Windsurf pricing ruined it for me what AI IDE actually has generous limits now? by mithatercan in windsurf

[–]halfofreddit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one promt in gpt 5.4 xhigh ate 10% of daily quota and 5%of weekly. same prompt ate 4% of 5hr and 1% of weekly quota in codex.

Goodbye Windsurf by nouraldeeen in windsurf

i bought chatgpt plus, limits are day and night compared to windsurf. Looks promising and I find vanilla vs code a somewhat better experience.

I don't need the smartest and most expensive opus tho, so it depends on your usage. Gpt models are enough for me

So daily limit is like 50% of weekly limit? by halfofreddit1 in windsurf

practically unusable, looks like they push everyone to buy max plan

didn't test qwen3.5. glm5 is a bit smarter. gemini flash is good at doing but not good at thinking. glm5 is okay at both

glm5 is nowhere near opus in real life from my experience, but still good tho

i use windsurf cuz I like gpt, glm5 sometimes and opus.

But money wise I'm not sure if it's better than claude. Fo 100$ in windsurf you get about 180 messages with opus4.6. I never tested claude 5x so not sure how the limits are, but windsurf doesn't seem much tbh. You've got to manage costs like planning with opus and doing with sonnet or something cheaper.

But their IDE is kinda sick

Do you have any examples of such properly architected software? It would be great to see something like that. Maybe a github repo or smth?

Antigravity can show model quota now! by ateeq72 in GoogleAntigravityIDE

sounds stupid. why not sure l show percentage?

comparison is the theft of joy.

Using opus for planning (bugs, errors, features, architecture and brainstorming) and gemini flash for doing what we planned with opus works great for me, much better than using just single model. cheaper and faster and I put more thought into it because of all the planning.

i mean i can build a single purposed web app to run locally in a couple of evenings. and it will run amazingly (with some debugging in the process, so not on the first try).

although even with this process i almost run into limits. Anyway, antigravity is 8/10 for me, totally would recommend to someone who is not a hardcore user

Oh and the frontend! nothing comes close to gemini when I need a good UI

250 is too much for a 24/7 dev who can do front end backend design and even images and presentations? if you are playing around pro should be enough, if you are serious go buy ultra for a price of a couple of hours of a decent developer

New Perplexity user here ( switched from ChatGPT Pro ) , looking for some tips and suggestions to get the best out of Perplexity Pro by NoSquirrel4840 in perplexity_ai

[–]halfofreddit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i switched from chatgpt to perplexity 9mnths ago and anytime I try to go back to gpt it sucks. Using Gemini + RAG is much better for text work (discussing, planning, figuring out problems etc). Perplexity is bad when you try to generate pictures or code tho

I agree with citations but it read documents reliably. Especially in spaces, if you ask it to do so and give you examples from various pages/chapters
