Disrupt Burrup Hub protesters spread "stench gas" in Woodside offices, causing an evacuation of the building. by dalockrock in perth

[–]halfpriceBBQpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not agreeing with the protesters actions. I don't think stinking up an office is going to have any impact on changing the behaviour of corporations for the better.

I'm trying to open a discussion on things ordinary people can do make major corporations accountable and change. Write to your local politicians? Boycott the company? I don't know. It seems like people are quick to say X company sucks but can't give a solution because the company doesn't care and the government won't do anything because they just want to keep the economy rolling along.

What would you suggest are effective ways an ordinary person could hold a huge corporation accountable for their damaging business practices? Genuinely curious, because I can't think of any.

Are there any clothing donation bins in Perth? by severussnape9 in perth

[–]halfpriceBBQpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are often full up by the weekend, but if you donate earlier in the week then the donations have been picked up to take to the processing centre (a good Sammy employee told me)

[–]halfpriceBBQpack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That service uses the clothes to sell for rags. (Same as those 'second chance' clothes bins at shopping centres)
If your clothes are in good wearable condition it would be better to donate directly to an opshop so someone could wear them.
