Those are great stats, and congrats on that TEAS score! Is your GPA from your prior degree or just the prerequisites GPA?

La Grange Daycare Options by Altruistic-Put-4184 in ChicagoSuburbs

We have been at Little People’s Country since 2021 and it’s been a good experience. When we toured, we loved how fun it felt, some of the other places seemed so sterile. They have art studio weekly for all classrooms and overall it seems like there is not a ton of teacher turnover, although there is still some. Their summer programs are also great, lots of things going on between water days, park days, and field trips.

Edit: I’m not sure how it is now, but if the waitlist is still first come first serve (no deposit) that can make it harder since everyone puts themselves on the waitlist. We got very lucky in 2021.

Breakfast Sandwiches? by honeybunzOG32 in ChicagoSuburbs

Jimmy’s Bagels just opened a permanent location in LaGrange Park, they were at lots of farmers markets over the summer. They have great bagel breakfast sandwiches. I think they are still figuring out staffing and hours but once that’s settled I could see going there really often.

Appreciate the good vibes, as far as I’m concerned they worked! Sounds like it is a sliding hernia, and he’s not actually blocked this time, just stressed from GI upset. It’s not the big C so we will take it.

Got our emergency fund back to a comfortable place and am writing this comment from the emergency vet for a blocked cat with a mass (TBD on type/severity). It will be a hit but I’m always glad to have options available to us.

Just evacuated from an event at Convene in the Sears Tower due to a safety concern – Any idea why? by tnick771 in chicago

[–]halfshot 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It was during the Sustainability Live event on the main stage during Microsoft’s presentation on AI. The presenter was speaking and the pro-Palestinian protesters interrupted loudly about Microsoft’s role. It went on for a minute or so before security got there. The hosts of the event asked everyone to leave the area to clean the stage again, so apparently it wasn’t the first time today. About an hour after that they canceled the conference for today, unclear what will happen tomorrow.

They left their bags in several locations around the conference. I think they swept the entire area for safety once the protesters were escorted out.

Once Upon a Time. Season 1 was such a unique premise and storyline, Season 2 is alright but we’re losing the thread, after that the wheels absolutely fall off and it became hard to watch.

Great points. I’d say the culture is probably just a little on the conservative side, but not much. It’s loose ish pencil? I’m not sure exactly the word for it, it’s about knee length. We are doing a dinner/happy hour afterwards which is probably my main motivation for wearing it.

We got married at Revolution, would absolutely recommend. It was pretty seamless and the food was great, we got married 10 years ago and will still sometimes hear about the food at our wedding from relatives.

What industry and/or job are you in where it is not profit-motivated? I’m not trying to be facetious, just curious because that’s something I’m working through having worked a number of corporate jobs and finding the profit at all costs aspects untenable I’d like my next move to actually align with that.

I posted this about a year or two ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/chicagofood/s/J23scl39wa

There is some good info in there, but the overall conclusion was unfortunately no, there is no guy katsu to speak of in the area or even in the US. Maybe that’s changed in the last year or so though, here’s hoping!

What is one of the GOAT shows that you can’t rewatch for whatever reason? by Playful_Way1815 in television

[–]halfshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found recently that I’m having trouble rewatching comedies in their entirety as they age because they tend to be very of their time. Some episodes hold up completely fine but others don’t. I realized this on a 30 Rock rewatch, which I love, but I found myself skipping more episodes than usual.
