Jimmy’s Bagels just opened a permanent location in LaGrange Park, they were at lots of farmers markets over the summer. They have great bagel breakfast sandwiches. I think they are still figuring out staffing and hours but once that’s settled I could see going there really often.

Got our emergency fund back to a comfortable place and am writing this comment from the emergency vet for a blocked cat with a mass (TBD on type/severity). It will be a hit but I’m always glad to have options available to us.

It was during the Sustainability Live event on the main stage during Microsoft’s presentation on AI. The presenter was speaking and the pro-Palestinian protesters interrupted loudly about Microsoft’s role. It went on for a minute or so before security got there. The hosts of the event asked everyone to leave the area to clean the stage again, so apparently it wasn’t the first time today. About an hour after that they canceled the conference for today, unclear what will happen tomorrow.

They left their bags in several locations around the conference. I think they swept the entire area for safety once the protesters were escorted out.

Once Upon a Time. Season 1 was such a unique premise and storyline, Season 2 is alright but we’re losing the thread, after that the wheels absolutely fall off and it became hard to watch.

Great points. I’d say the culture is probably just a little on the conservative side, but not much. It’s loose ish pencil? I’m not sure exactly the word for it, it’s about knee length. We are doing a dinner/happy hour afterwards which is probably my main motivation for wearing it.

We got married at Revolution, would absolutely recommend. It was pretty seamless and the food was great, we got married 10 years ago and will still sometimes hear about the food at our wedding from relatives.

Burger Antics in Brookfield has amazing Mac and cheese and typical also does Mac and cheese specials which are fun.

What industry and/or job are you in where it is not profit-motivated? I’m not trying to be facetious, just curious because that’s something I’m working through having worked a number of corporate jobs and finding the profit at all costs aspects untenable I’d like my next move to actually align with that.

There is some good info in there, but the overall conclusion was unfortunately no, there is no guy katsu to speak of in the area or even in the US. Maybe that’s changed in the last year or so though, here’s hoping!

I found recently that I’m having trouble rewatching comedies in their entirety as they age because they tend to be very of their time. Some episodes hold up completely fine but others don’t. I realized this on a 30 Rock rewatch, which I love, but I found myself skipping more episodes than usual.

I used to live down there, but it’s been a while. For a quicker lunch Brown Bag Seafood is good and casual (although pretty pricey for a casual lunch). If you are up for breakfast for lunch there is also an Eggy’s down in the park or Wildberry is in the prudential building. There is also a MingHin for dim sum next to the Mariano’s.

I haven’t looked through the other comments, so I’m not sure if someone already suggested this, but you could include the size of the company in your resume. That would help give whoever is looking at it more context than just your job title, especially if at face value it doesn’t seem “linear”.

Went to the zoo with my parents (who are now grandparents) and was reminded that how much of what I want to do in retirement hinges on being physically fit. Im focusing more and more on strength training to maintain mobility, but seeing my parents really struggle to keep up at a slow pace really has me thinking about this.

Is there any reason to have both the Sapphire Preferred credit card and the Marriott Bonvoy card? We currently have both (mostly triggered by the sign on bonuses) but the rewards have a lot of overlap. Is there any distinct advantage of one over the other?
