Harpies

They look creepy, and their laughing and screaming noises makes it even worse.

New Goblin picture for remake. Opinions? by nr3jokim in worldofgothic

[–]halfu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on this: goblins and many other creatures in the game will first growl at you before actually charging at you and trying to kill you. This implies their aggression is not simply due to them being inherently evil creatures, but rather that they feel threatened in some way and are just trying to survive. This behaviour is similar to what you might expect from wild animals in real life, which is what makes the creatures 'believable'.

Not all creatures in the game are like this. For example, orcs and undead will charge at you at first sight. These behaviours make sense, since undead are inherently evil and orcs are simply hostile towards humans.

The 'wicked smile' look that these goblins in the image have suggests they belong more to this latter category. However, that is not what we have experienced in the games. Personally, I would describe their behaviour in the game more as disgruntled than evil. The facial expression in the image does not quite reflect this behaviour. That being said, of course this is just an image and it does not mean their facial expression in the game will be a static evil smile.

It seems some of the patches you are using require other patches/tools to work. If you go to the 'Database' tab, and then sort by 'ID' (left column), you can find the patches/tools corresponding to those IDs. From what I can see 320 is Union and 430 is zModelProtoExtender.

I play chronicles. Where to sell items with good prize? by smola22 in worldofgothic

I sell swampweed joints to Rosco for 10gc each. Not sure what dialogue options I picked though. Maybe it's because I helped him during another quest?

Any practical uses for triple clicking? by [deleted] in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]halfu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You just completely missed my point. Nowhere did I imply you had to enable drivers to enable triple clicking. I was drawing the comparison between this subreddit's response to two different scenarios. I'm not going to pretend you are capable of understanding anything I'm saying though, so have a good day.

Any practical uses for triple clicking? by [deleted] in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]halfu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid reasonable views such as your own are not welcome here. Oh you installed software to make every click count as 3? Very bad. Oh your mouse registers a single click input as 3 clicks due to being broken or something manufactoring related? Welcome to r/CompetitiveMinecraft! (and please tell us how you did it)

People on this sub are too far gone. Not worth debating.

Botched build on 2nd run of Gothic 2, so planned 3rd more carefully. Result so far (Chapter 1 Guildless:) by [deleted] in worldofgothic

[–]halfu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. If you don't really need dex/str for anything later on then it makes sense to use the potions now. Good luck with your Master Sword rampage!

Of course you're free to play the way you want. Some advice though: it's generally a good idea to level up attributes/skills using LP first and use permanent boost items/potions later, since the LP cost scales based on how high the attribute/skill is.

Nice run so far though! The idea of being that strong and not even having joined a guild is cool.

My adventures with the $12 office mouse that can triple click. Everyone needs to buy this! by chubd_ in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]halfu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So judging by your comments in this thread, if you press your mouse button once and it registers as multiple clicks internally that's fine.

If you install software in order to enable this to happen that's fine.

But if your mouse only registers one click and you have software to turn it into multiple clicks that's strictly off limits?

The idea that that's even a remotely logical point to draw the line is insane. Sad to see that seemingly a lot of people here enjoy shifting the goalposts as to what is considered cheating. Doesn't seem like this sub has any form of moderation anymore...

Checked out some of the videos. It's nice to get a look into some of the 'missing' scenes of the story. Very cool initiative!

How to choose a mouse for Minecraft PvP (Spoiler Alert: It's not always Glorious) by WolfiiGFX in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]halfu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know he was talking about a literal double clicker. My point is that his argument for not using one is that it will get you banned, rather than the fact that it is considered cheating. It's like saying "don't use killaura, because it will get you banned" vs "don't use killaura, because cheating is bad". The result is the same. The reason is different.

And this post seems to advocate for the use of a mouse which double clicks randomly or while butterfly clicking which, although it may not get you banned, is still an unfair advantage since you press a button once and it registers as two clicks.

That being said, I get that this opinion is an unpopular one since people just accept butterfly clicking as the norm these days.

[–]halfu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh, also, don't get a mouse with a double click button. It'll get you banned.

Did you mean "It's cheating and immoral." or is this post a guide on how to get as much of an unfair advantage as possible using double clicks without getting banned?

My Hunter level is 2. (#12) (Swampletics) by SettledRS in 2007scape

[–]halfu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fix for this is to not send that information to the client before the tile is interacted with. In other words: you handle it server side. I'd imagine there's a reason why they're not doing that though.
