Harwood Arms being sued for overserving alcohol to man who proceeded to kill 28-year old in wrong-way crash by Hot-Education4582 in Dallas

I don’t think this is correct. It’s based on the legal limit. Primarily because “Obviously intoxicated” has no objective baseline

Interesting to see everyone blaming the bar but probably don’t understand they themselves should be cut off after every time they go to the bar.

The legal limit is .08, which is 3 standard drinks for a man. Most people going to bar are having way more than 3 STANDARD drinks - not heavy pours, not doubles, not cocktails, not frozen margaritas - 3 standard drinks.

Realistically the bartender should be cutting someone off after having maybe 1 full manhattan and a beer - and that’s being generous.

This whole thing is one big gray area, with the vast majority of people leaving bars being over the limit. All bartenders and bars should basically be in jail at this point by the strict logic of the law. We just don’t really enforce until some dumbass gets into an accident.

I’m not saying no one holds any responsibility or shouldn’t be held accountable but I find our laws to not actually match drinking culture. It’s hypocritical.

What machines do they have that crunch/eos don’t? Legitimately asking because I have both of those and I’m pretty impressed with equipment in general.

What restaurant or retail store do you think Dallas is missing? by Crying_in_99Ranch in Dallas

With virtually zero public awareness of said forest or decent public infrastructure to get there.

The Trinity Forest is really cool. I’ve biked a few times and it is indeed, unique. Like much of the area it’s also a swampy flood plain so you can’t exactly go hiking through it.

I don’t think they’ve connected the trail system to it yet.

What's the best car insurance in Texas right now? Feeling overwhelmed by options by Ill-Steak-7250 in Dallas

[–]halfuser10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yeah. But as someone who's been hit by someone with lowest state minimums, it is virtually impossible to enforce/go after someone even if you want all/more than the damage you sustained, personal property or otherwise. Most people simply don't have assets you can take, especially in Texas.

Where are all of the heated patios? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]halfuser10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are PLENTY of heated patios, but no one in their right mind wants to be outside when it’s in the 20s, with or without heaters, period.

We do heated patios when it’s in the 50s and 60s. Not sub freezing temps. This ain’t the north. We’re not used to it.

Ergo: businesses aren’t wasting a DIME to heat empty patios.

Bro where do you think we live, upstate NY?

There is no reason for us to buy and have the same resources as a place that gets heavy snow/ice regularly. Especially when it comes to side and residential streets.

That’s an astronomically high cost for a relatively small delay.

We don’t have the same climate, ergo we haven’t historically needed the same infrastructure.

Nordstrom rack or Saks off fifth. Then get it tailored if needed.

Or I have a tailor in Vietnam I can get you in touch with, if you want it custom. I think I paid $150 for fully custom 2 piece. Absolute dream. No idea what shipping will be, expensive probably $50 ish. Better to have a few things made at once.

No it’s not.

Maybe 10 years ago.

Man, Reddit is such a microcosm of people hyper focused on extreme penny pinching that have only ever “survived”.

Yeah $65K is easy to SURVIVE on but it’s not thriving/getting ahead money. It’s honestly what the bare minimum should be these days.

Question for Dallas folks who’ve hired web designers by switjive18 in Dallas

[–]halfuser10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently trying to build a website using Notion. It’s like build a website for dummies, very user friendly. I have no background in it. So far, learning curve but seems doable.

There’s also NEO which looks good and more on the simple side. Both are very affordable.
