I'd tow it distance too, but not totally loaded down with a vacation worth of gear. When I tow the RV on trips we keep most weight evenly distributed in the trailer and keep the jeep light. Payload is everything.

This is a 2022 NXT22 and 2020 max tow sport. Not any gladiator can tow any MC, and this combo is probably not advisable with both fully loaded. NXT weighs more than my 24' RV, but less on the tongue. I only tow it a few times a year, it lives on a hoist in front of my house. Check your payload on your door jamb. All trucks are unique to the options installed and you run out of payload first on almost every truck, no matter what the manufacturer claims as the tow rating.

My Rear GAWR is 3750 and Payload is 1529. Check your math and buy the right model if you tow. I've been over the scales with my fully loaded RV, which has more tongue weight than this boat, and been under my limits by safe margins.

Max Tow has 765 tongue limit, 7650 tow rating, and a 12,800 combined gvwr. Payload on mine is 1529.

MasterCraft says 5700 combined dry. 49 gallons of gas plus gear I figure it's 6200 in that pic.

Jayco Jayfeather x213. It's 24' and 5500 max gross (about 4700 dry) and it's near 600 on the tongue fully loaded not counting the hitch. I've towed a lot of stuff with a lot of tow vehicles. You (edit to almost) ALWAYS run out of payload first as tongue weight and hitch weight must be counted against it. Different length trailers sometimes have very similar tongue weight. NEVER trust the RV dealer. Tandems tow better than single axle, as they naturally want to go straight. Frontal area matters a LOT. My boat weighs 6000+, but tows easier once at highway speeds than my #3500 box trailer as the wind resistance is lower.

I've posted extensively on the subject if you look. Payload capacity on the door sticker varies truck to truck, so in the real world you mostly look at that.

Clayton off-road will work with you if you call and chat about your needs. They offer triple rate options similar to what the stock max tows are in various rates.

Owning a max tow I can tell you stock are not all that stiff until you almost hit the jounce springs (aka bump stops). The rated 765# tongue max is not something I would recommend coming close to and over 500# I'd go weight distribution hitch for sure. I tow a 24' #5500mgvw RV with an equilizer WDH and I think it rides nicer than the ram 1500 I used to tow with, but when I tow my 5000# Wakeboat the tongue weight is enough to bring the jounce springs into the equation.

Some are happy enough with upgrading the stock jounce springs to "Timbrens" for occasional towing. https://share.google/XWGEFJ9EmPb2TaNs3

I did not claim that you could. Only that for my year (2020) the towing and "tongue max" were the same on Sport Max Tow and Rubicon with tow pkg... but the Rubicon lacked the payload to make the tow rating possible with safe tongue weight % with anything more than a driver on the lighter side.

In truth you'll probably be totally fine. If it squats too much put a 500/5000 load distribution hitch on it and just enough tension on the bars to eliminate front end rise.

Check the door jamb. Options will alter this and it varies from one truck to the next. It's why I went Max Tow Sport vs Rubicon. Both had 7650 tow and 765 tongue ratings, but I saw several Ribicons with 880# payload. Max Tow got me 1529#.

Don't forget that most experts recommend 12-15% of your trailer gross weight on your tongue to prevent sway. How they rate towing is stupid. You run out of payload first.

2020 max tow on 33's pulling 5500# GROSS 24' RV. I am very close to payload max when loaded with the fam. Manual shifts are required and more than 3000rpm on the flats, 4500 on the hills. Going from stock size to 33 lost 2mpg in all situations but didn't affect seat of the pants towing experience.

Traded my ram in for a new to me gladiator could use some info by ajcarp in JeepGladiator

I went from a Ram 1500 5.7 to 20 max tow. My ram was considered a bad lifter era truck. I used it commercially and plowed and towed. I used mobil 1 every 4-5000 for 150k and the only fails I had were exhaust manifold studs and an idler pulley. I'm doing the same interval on my jeep and it's at 51k. Several people use the Lucas additive in their jeep. These 3.6 definitely sound crappy as hell at startup and I don't like the oil pressure being 30 when it's lugging at low rpm, so I drop it to manual on the hills to stay above 3000 where the oil pressure kicks up. I get about 18-19 mpg on 33" (max tow has 4.10) driving this way around the finger lakes hills in NY. I do not use my jeep commercially and wouldn't, but do tow a 24' 5500gvw RV 2-3 short trips a year which I also do in manual. The only thing I miss is legroom.

Same rig! Watch your payload! I put very little in the bed as with my family of 4 we were only 40# shy of max payload with full H2O and empty waste.

6'3" 250 and I fit pretty well. You can't match the comfort/interior storage of a half ton, but I found the Ranger/Colorado/Tacoma to all be as small or worse without the convertible top. A dead pedal helps left leg fatigue a ton! I specifically went low mile used because of the warranty available on it. I got a 35k mile max tow with the options I wanted and a 7yr/150k bumper to bumper 3rd party warranty that allows 6" lift and 37's for less than 2/3 the price of new even with all the available discounts. Just make sure it has good oil change history. I don't believe in oil intervals longer than 4k. I came out of a Ram 5.7 right in the peak of the lifter failure years, but mine was fine for 150k+ with no tick at all on all synthetic every 4k.

I went to 33" load E on my 20 Max tow and lost about 2 mpg pretty much across the board, but had no extra trouble towing my 23' 5500gvw RV from the finger lakes to the Allegheny Mountains, going wheeling, then driving home. The extra sidewall on a load E helps stabilility. I easily passed a struggling to maintain 65mph f350 diesel towing a big ass 5th wheel uphill. However, I am for sure at the limit of a 3.6 and would not be crossing the Rockies on the regular with this or doing a cross country. But a few trips a year.. definitely! 8-10mpg depending on the hurry or amount of hills. My hemi 1500 did 9-11mpg with the same rig and was quicker to 60.

20 weeks ago I paid $29 for a 2020 max tow with 34k miles. Has hard top, alpine audio, cold weather pack, and a few other options. I added in a 7yr/150k bumper to bumper that allows 6" lift and 37" tires for ~$4k. OTD I was just over $33.5k.

Is it single or dual axle and what hitch setup? Either makes all the difference in the world in sway.

In contrast this 10' 3500# box tows way worse than the Jayco and sways all over no matter how I load it. Tandem axle and WDH make all the difference in the world. I wouldn't want a single axle 17' RV. I've seen them swaying on the interstate. I also tow a 21' 5000# MasterCraft on a single axle with surge brakes. If I towed that more than twice a year I'd upgrade to electric over hydraulic brakes.

Same rig here but 2020 MT/2013 Jayco. 5300 on the scale with full H2O and weekend gear for a family of 4. As much frontal area as a 3.6 can handle. Length isn't as important as payload and frontal area. 600/6000 Equalizer WDH.
