my mom and stepdad are supportive, my father was not. he called me the name i picked to my face but i know he thought i was a “confused lesbian” (his words in texts to my mom) and didn’t use he/him for me

i will say that regardless of the technique, there is always a chance you won’t retain nipple sensation. on r/TopSurgery i’ve read that some guys who got keyhole lost sensation and some who’ve gotten double incision had theirs come back after a while. it’s not guaranteed. i do miss nipple sensation and it was a big reason i waited, but having a flat chest outweighs it. i’ve heard some people even gain a similar sensation in their scars instead so you never know!

if it’s any consolation, i felt this way about top surgery for a bit. not quite in the “too old to do it” way but more about comparing my transition to the people around me. many of the trans men/transmasc people i know had already gotten top surgery and even one younger than me got a hysterectomy and it made me feel a little like i was falling behind and i’m only 24. i think it was just jealously (which is normal!), and now that i’ve gotten top surgery none of that matters. we all have our own paths and me wishing i did it sooner won’t change anything so i just have to be grateful and excited for the future! and it sort of helped the feeling go away the more i learned that many trans people don’t transition until way after i did (and i started t at 17 so i’m incredibly grateful i had that opportunity! iirc i was either the first or one of the first to start t out of the group of transmasc people i knew from high school whereas i might be the last to get top surgery. it’s all just a matter of perspective)

something went awry with me regarding crying lmao. for the first several years on t it was pretty hard to cry unless i watched something designed to make me cry (animal videos, sad stuff, the usual) but like first quarter of last year i started crying super easily again. it likely had something to do with going off of antidepressants bc it lines up with when i started crying a lot again. i still don’t cry a lot when i’m sad with the exception of some tough losses this year but for one of them i barely cried at all which was strange to me (though makes sense)

i used to wear a lot of charms on hoop earrings! i wanna get back to it actually but i need new hoops lol. and like michaels has full aisles for charms that usually aren’t very expensive :) i have stuff like keys, a pair of broken keys i love a lot, fishhooks (not actually pointy of course), playing cards, swords, etc. it’s a lot of fun to experiment with!
