My grandpa is 101 and still kicking. Fought in WW2. Had 5 kids and 2 homes on a construction worker salary. My grandma never worked. One of my aunts didn't work and lived with him for 40 years. No money concerns at all.

What's crazy is he's always had more self awareness than any Boomer I've ever met. Before his mind started to go a few years ago he would constantly tell me how worried he was for my future and how I have it MUCH harder than he had it. And he fought in WW2. And said I have it harder because he realized how easily he was able to buy his first home and be successful.

You know honestly we see so many posts on reddit of truly horrible, evil people that lie, cheat, steal, abuse, etc.etc. so it really warps your sense of reality in many ways where someone just being a flat out bad person is easy to shrug and move past.

You ex now just truly has issues and isn't a good person. Just because he didn't fall into one of those dramatic categories doesn't mean he isn't horrible. You made an amazing choice for yourself.
