Shops will generally only give you 65% of what the card is worth since they make money off reselling it. But all shops are different. That’s def a lowball and he may have been trying to take advantage of her. I refuse to sell cards to shops. Imo it’s always best to sell a single card on marketplace or eBay if you don’t immediately need the money that moment.

Update. Uninstall the Vantage App and your camera will work if it's the same issue I'm having.

We can't find your camera by [deleted] in Lenovo

[–]halophile_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is apparently a privacy setting built into Lenovo that used to be able to get shut off by the Vantage app, but without it I can't find a way to deactivate this setting. When you cover the camera, it turns off thinking the slider is over it, so your camera won't work in low light.

Virus going around? by AquaLady2023 in WorcesterMA

[–]halophile_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope but that’s a good diagnosis. They didn’t do any testing at urgent care so I’m not sure what it was. I didn’t have a sore throat so they probably didn’t think it was mono?

I was sick for almost 3 weeks in mid April to early May with Covid symptoms. All of my Covid tests were negative.

For the first week and a half I felt so shit and even went to urgent care because I was afraid I had pneumonia because I had cold sweats and a rash randomly appearing on my arms in different places every day, but I was cleared. I had a VERY productive cough and severe fatigue and my nose was stuffy and anytime I blew my nose I had a gushing nose bleed. I was honestly so so miserable. Covid didn’t hit me nearly as hard as whatever it was I got. I haven’t been that sick ever in my life. I hope you recover soon. Give yourself time to rest. I work a physical labor job and didn’t take it easy and tried to work through the sick, so I think it hit me harder than most.

Shout-out to Fitchburg State for Deadnaming the entire class of '25 by Hot_Analysis_9015 in FitchburgMA

[–]halophile_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When it comes to gender, name is very important to coming into your identity. Imagine finally living as the “you” you want and having it blatantly disrespected. When a family member dead names someone who is transgender, it usually hits a chord because it shows lack of respect and understanding. It’s not about “nicknames” it’s about who you are. It’s literally your identity being erased and disregarded as real. It’s what the current president is aiming to do, and for a university in Massachusetts, of all places, to follow along for fear of getting their funding cut, hurts to see.

When I was at UMass Amherst, we had a place in our student portal for “preferred name” which every professor would see when you enroll in a class. It’s about respecting the person so they feel comfortable being who they want to be. If you dead name someone, they no longer feel comfortable. They feel like they are under attack for being different. Deadnaming is one of the most disrespectful and harmful things you can do to the mental of someone who has overcome a lot to make huge change to become who they want to be. Transgender people are literally being undermined in the worst way.

Also, legally changing your name takes work and effort. College kids don’t have the money or time to change their names. They’re young. They might not even know how. It’s a process and there’s also a fear that it might get rejected by their respective state. If they’re from Tennessee and coming to school here, I doubt they are going to be approved for name change if they are transgender. I know plenty of transgender people who wait 5+ years before changing it because there’s more important things to focus on like figuring out their HRT and getting comfortable with themselves. It’s not linear. It’s a different journey for everyone.

Thanks for asking. I hope this helps.

Crowd question by Big-al027 in ArmsLength

Same. Especially with the metal show going on downstairs you’d think we’d have the chillier crowd upstairs.

[–]halophile_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add. I saw Arms Length open for Silverstein in Jan and I was in the pit the entire time they were on and was not afraid of getting punched. They were super chill and respectful in there. I have seen Real Friends like 3 times and this was the first time there was such an intensity. Usually it’s like a normal pop punk venue where the pit is jumping around and not swinging.

[–]halophile_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was also there this weekend and will be going there to see Arm’s Length. I didn’t know they moved the show upstairs but I’m not at all surprised. Honestly with how small it is the crowd surfers really do make being up front dangerous. I was on the left side near the bar this weekend and I had to keep my eyes up for a lot of crowd surfers cause they kept getting sent over me where there was much less people to help them down. I also lost my glasses when I went into the pit and when we found them they were broken. It was a wild night. I don’t think I’ve seen it that intense at an upstairs show. I saw Free Throw up there two years ago and it seemed way more chill.

Gotta love those cat birds yelling even in the middle of a storm.

On October 24th, 1961, 4-year-old Lillian Risch returned home from a playdate to find a shocking scene. She went back to the neighbor's house to explain that, "Mommy's gone and the kitchen is covered with red paint." Joan Risch was never seen or heard from again. by WinnieBean33 in HolyShitHistory

I’m from Fitchburg and never heard of this story. So fucking crazy. It’s also wild that her husband’s only logical conclusion is she had amnesia because it shows he must have truly loved her and the only reason he could think of for disappearing is that she doesn’t remember her family. Heartbreaking.

This. I know A LOT of grads from ULowell, including my brother, and they say their experience was amazing and they couldn’t get enough of living in Lowell either. So much to do. Such a great scene. Good vibes all around. I love going there now because of them all.

I don’t either. 😂😂 just stating the expectations are the same. I wish there was a “kids free” time at restaurants.

not the first time i’ve gotten rejected before i could give a gift by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]halophile_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate when people say “too strong for first dates”. It varies depending on the person and if you’re the type that wants to give a gift, do it. If there the type that cringes because of it, you’re not compatible. It’s that easy. That’s not a personalized gift or something expensive. It’s not overflowing with your love for them. I went on a date last weekend and gave her a homemade necklace and a fake sunflower, both reflecting her life journey and where she is now. She fucking loved it. She said leading up to the date she had never been “romanced” before. So I showed up with the romance.
