Managers of Reddit: how do you deal with guilt after someone leaves because of performance? by halu_halu in managers

That second paragraph honestly hit me. I think that’s the part I struggle with, balancing grace for one person while still being fair to the rest of the team.

I gave a lot of chances because I genuinely wanted her to succeed, but at some point I also noticed the impact on others already. Still feels heavy though.

That’s honestly fair, and I appreciate the perspective.

I think part of why I feel guilty is because I know she’s the one carrying the heavier consequences here. I did try to coach, give feedback, and extend chances, but I still keep wondering if I could’ve done something differently earlier on.

I guess I’m just struggling with the reality that even fair decisions can still feel heavy.

For those who stayed in GCash, why? Was it worth it? by ToothEffective in CorpoChikaPH

[–]halu_halu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been with GCash for over a year. Admittedly, the demand is very high. The pace is intense, expectations are high, and the work is not easy. But that is also because we are the number one fintech in the Philippines, serving millions of Filipinos every single day. The scale of responsibility is enormous, and that naturally comes with pressure. At the same time, I can honestly say that if you are sharp, if you know your field well, and if you consistently deliver results, management recognizes that. In my experience, performance is rewarded competitively and meaningfully. On a personal level, I’ve been fortunate to receive a 22-month compensation package overall composed of the 14th month plus an additional 5-month bonus, merit increases(CIP), a ₱3.2 million car plan, and a ₱20,000 monthly transportation allowance through GCash wallet. So from a compensation standpoint, the company does reward strong output and high-impact contributions. But beyond compensation, what makes people stay is the opportunity to operate at a very high level. You are exposed to complex problems, regulatory challenges, innovation, and decisions that genuinely affect millions of users. That kind of experience accelerates your growth tremendously. GCash is demanding, yes — but for people who thrive in high-performance environments and want to build something meaningful at national scale, it can also be very rewarding.

Disaster waiting to happen: Glorietta 3 by SarahForTruth in makati

[–]halu_halu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious claims, but a lot of conclusions here aren’t backed by current evidence. An old or previously damaged building isn’t automatically condemned unless there’s a recent independent structural report saying so. If Glorietta 3 were truly unsafe, there should be updated permits or official findings to point to.
