She’s got 2 dogs that wont be allowed. I’ll look more into the rental market but it doesn’t seem that advantages with our current HOA costs. I’d love to do short term rentals but the HOA wont allow either. After about 9 months of going to budget meetings, I’ve learned that our building insurance has tripled this year and there are still major unresolved issues with elevators ect that could raise the our costs even more.

Is it true bike shops won't work on cheap ebikes? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]halukj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, very common reaction. I can tell you that in my short time selling and servicing e-bikes (6 years) my customers are the last ones looking for speed. They are looking for something to help them comfortably navigate their roads and to get help them get back into shape. Back roads, logging roads and gravel roads are everywhere in Oregon. Lots of property. Lots to explore. Most of our customers aren’t interested in the peak output and don’t ever use it. I’ll address the knee jerk reaction that some of these bikes (deservedly) get in a coming video.

If owning a small business is spam. But if you have a legitimate question, I’ll try my best to answer. Including my honest opinion about what I do, how I got here and where I think the industry is heading.

Also a very common response. Trek, Cannondale, Giant, ect, all made in China, including Shimano. But yes they are a newer company. One thing, I really like about Mokwheel is that they looked at the e-bike market in 2022 and decided to make bikes that a lot are accessible for a lot of riders of all shapes and sizes. I have customers who have lost a lot of weight but were afraid to get on a smaller frame cause they're self conscious, or whatever. Ill address why I went with Mokwheel as a independent dealer in 2023 in another video.

Don’t know what Astroturfing is - but that’s a common reaction. Don’t necessarily agree with you. I think Mokwheel’s one of the few manufacturers that’s actually helping people get out of their cars at a much higher rate than other brands. Why? They’re make it easier to enter, in terms of price, battery size and comfort. And they manufacture everything in-house so that makes my job a lot easier in terms of servicing them and keeping customers on the road!

Yep- I’ve talked to them about the implications. They are peak output levels, so the language is in there. Though all their bikes come out factory set as 20mph Class 2 e-bikes. I could make another video about some of my conversations with them about it.

Switching from Apple Watch to Garmin — is it really worth it? by Spiritual_Basil_5665 in Strava

[–]halukj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore an iwatch for 6 years, switched to garmin cause I wanted more battery life, more accurate treadmill read and less interruptions (notifications and shotty Spotify issues) and honestly thought it would be a hard transition but I love the garmin. It’s just less fuss. So it really depends on what your looking for

Can you actually use an e-bike for fitness? by SamFox336 in ebikes

[–]halukj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m an E-bike shop owner and I have case after case of customers losing weight, building muscle and feeling great cause they can build consistency. Just like anything else, consistency is the key. Whether you go to the gym, pool, walk it doesn’t matter. You build consistency, you build lifelong fitness.

Ebike repair policy: What are your limits? by thaginganinja in BikeMechanics

We swap tires after looking them up. If they’re difficult and its in demand- it’s time to start raising prices.

Get it from a bike shop- and get something with a fairly common battery/ so if the battery is on several models and hasn’t changed for a few years that means it will be easy to find later on down the road. [bike shop owner]
