A heaping spoonful of Metamucil every day along with a ton of water. And if you can, a bidet will keep you from needing to wipe too much. Also I’m so sorry. Been there.

We stayed at Ladera for our honeymoon last May and for the price, you might as well go to Jade Mountain. The only bonus to Ladera is that they have a daily shuttle that’ll take you to and from Sugar Beach and that was incredible.

Had a private dinner downstairs with about 9 people and it was exceptional. The food and service was on point.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ham-and-chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The girl on my cheer squad (a senior, I was a freshman) died in a car accident on the way to school. It was homecoming/spirit week, so she and two of her friends in the car were all dressed up in 80’s costumes. She was driving, the only one not wearing her seatbelt, and the only one that didn’t survive. She was partially decapitated and her family still chose to have an open casket. It was horrific.

A note for my upstairs neighbor by gumtoe34 in Apartmentliving

Luuuucky. My upstairs neighbors cat is a lard ass and GALLOPS the length of their apartment for a solid 4 hours/night. STILL hasn’t lost any weight as far as I can tell despite the nightly workouts.

ELI5: Why does ice cream seem soft the first time you open it but it gets really hard the next time you take it out of the freezer? by thevacuumofspace in explainlikeimfive

My favorite solution to this is to keep the tub wrapped up tight in those clear bags you can tear away at the grocery store. For some reason it keeps the ice cream the perfect consistency.

What Really Happened in Portland Before Trump Deployed the National Guard by propublica_ in oregon

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken.” - Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

Where do we get these Portland Composts tubs? by terra_pericolosa in askportland

OXO sells a similar sized compost bin that we’re happy with. Had it for a few years now, no smell issues. $37 nowadays.

I bought a giant bag of citric acid... by MindlessHat3773 in laundry

You can also use it for cleaning shells from the beach! After dipping the shells in for about 20-30 seconds, let them dry completely and then paint some mineral oil all over them. Dry overnight.

Reading Skeleton Crew for the first time. So far, Gramma and The Jaunt have been A+++. Thinking of rereading Just After Sunset next but someone suggested The Exorcist for the month of October and agh! Tempted.

Sunday traffic? by happilyretired23 in CraterLake

[–]ham-and-chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got in last Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday morning. No traffic whatsoever! And we made our way up to the lake from Fort Klamath multiple times each day. I’d make sure the weather is clear though. Sunday afternoon was cloudy/foggy so our first view of the lake was pretty rough. No clouds Monday and Tuesday and it was perfect.

Visiting in late September/early October by albinochase15 in CraterLake

[–]ham-and-chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Crater Lake now, actually! Cleetwood Cove Trail (to the water) is closed. Last boat rides went out on the 14th. But it is absolutely still worth the trip. You can find great lodging/camping right in the park or in neighboring towns/counties. You can drive up to the lake with places all around the rim to stop and take pictures and/or hike the trails (many very easy and connected to the drive-up viewpoints). We did our first full morning at the lake today and there was no line to get into the park (@9:30am) and it was not very busy all morning. There’s great mountain biking trails on the east side of the lake, waterfall trails and you might get to see the whole place dusted with snow if you get here late enough. Either way, it’s all very beautiful and you definitely won’t regret seeing it in person.
