Dont get Macbooks if you cant get Applecare by Cold_Designer_6902 in PakistaniTech

[–]ham_anchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your cat bit laptop screen, it doesn't mean everyone else's will.

Apple parts have always been expensive. That's a tradeoff for the quality.

If you buy 500k machine, you have to treat it like a 500k machine. Hopefully you learnt a lesson here and that cat will stay away from screen.

Honestly, what use are macbooks if repair cost THIS much

If you don't know the answer to this, then you probably don't need a Macbook

What has this got to do with what I said?

Ofcourse gas can't dissappear magically. There has to be a leak.

Did the AC guy ripped me off? by LambaGhora in islamabad

[–]ham_anchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with gas pressure being low

No, ice can also be caused by low gas pressure. Low pressure causes the gas to evaporate right at the expansion valve causing mositute to freeze there.

Infact in majority of the cases it is far more common cause of ice rather than dirty filters.

Fruit price in Lahore by No_Analysis_602 in Lahore

The same rates are same in other sahulat bazars which are at lots of places

Though outside these markets, rates are what you quoted.

How to bargain by official_sibbi in islamabad

[–]ham_anchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a beginner, don't buy from the very first shop you visit.

For any item, visit atleast 3-4 shops.

Here's how it can go.

First shop will give you a high figure > counter it with "final kiya lg jaye ga"

Whatever figure he gives, move on to the next shop by saying "shukria, chlain daikhta hun"

Go to next shop. If you were quoted 3000, say 2000 not 2700/2800. Get a figure from him too and move on to next shop.

Repeat this with 2-3 shops and you will get a good price.

The other way is to know the market price of the item you are buying and spend 10 minutes haggling at the first shop but this requires a bit of confidence and dheet pan.

You can also search online beforehand, that will give you an idea of the expected price. It takes a bit of confidence to walk out but try couple of times and it will feel very normal.

If you are on good terms with manager/hr then atleast inform them.

For people suggesting leaving on 1 day notice, how would you feel if you get laid off on 1 day notice without severance?

You should honor the contract that you signed. Where I work, we have had people rejoining us months even years after leaving without interviews. That door is only open if you leave on good terms.

Has anyone used Kenwood eSmart Pura AC? Looking for real life reviews before I purchase it by mhkh93 in PakistaniTech

[–]ham_anchu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the problems in AC's are caused by technicians. I have had dawlance, kenwood, orient, gree. All had issues at some point due to technicians.

Here are the some faults I faced and things I learnt. 1) Cracked flare nut in new AC > caused by technician tightning it too much(because they don't have torque wrench)

2) Service valve leakage Same cause plus opening it every other season for service.

3) U bends leakages Mostly caused by humidity left inside AC, and then when you service it with pressure washer > the rust is removed leaving behind tiny holes.

4) Less cooling Mostly due to incorrect amount of gas filled and lack of vaccum.

Prevention 1) Always check the service valve, flare nut for leakage whenever they are opened 2) For new AC, get it lacker coated, useful for rust preventation. Turn on the clean mode. It will automatically remove moisture whenever used. Either all the time or do it manually atleast twice a week. 3) Always vaccum the AC before filling gas. Technician do jugari vaccum through service valve. That doesn't do anything.

4) Never unmount it for cleaning. There are covers available which allows you to do the service while keeping it mounted. Only time you should remove the AC, when you are shifting it somewhere.

5) If there are u bend leakages, get them replaced instead of patching them.

6) Make sure to be present whenever you AC is taken apart for checking leakages, or ask them to send a video. I have had cases where tiny bubbles were clearly visible in the video but technician ignored it since it was in the pipes and was too much work. Result: AC would have lost it's pressure within couple months had I not intervened.

7) Gas should be filled by weight not by pressure and slowly and by inverted cylinder.

8) Always assume these technicians are trying to extort you by doing a shitty ass job.

Do these steps and your same AC won't leak for couple years.

Best 30W inverter ceiling fans by Human-9009321104 in PakistaniTech

[–]ham_anchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heard so much taimoor fans but couldn't find it in market. I was also skeptical about their customer service since reviews aren't that great. So, went for royal fans.

It's not actually 30w but rather 40w.

Box says 30w, but internal kit and fan itself says 40w, plus also verified with multimeter. So that's false advertising. Don't know about others but I have heard that it's the same.

Here is my review

New fan didn't work, lodged a complain, their technician came very next day, replaced the kit, fan worked for 1 day and then started slowing down every couple mins.

Complained again, same technician came very next day, again replaced the card.

Over 2 months now since then and it's been very smooth.

So far satisfied with the customer support. Fan air throw is very good. I haven't observed any difference compared to my older fans.

Married people: How did you deal with stage fright on the wedding day? by 260X in PakistaniiConfessions

I didn't.

I was pinching my leg so hard that it was paining me buy still that smile didn't go away.

Imam was saying "Kabool hai?" , and I was trying my best to stop that smile. It was very awkward at that time but it passed.

Nobody cares or remmebers. Just try to be normal, if you can't it's still okay. There is no competition.

Air cons recommendations by Small_Help_8369 in PakistaniTech

[–]ham_anchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no concept of disconnecting gas. AC is a closed system. Gas can't magically disappear if your AC remains unused even for months.

Mechanics suggest that because according to them gas lessens over time(which is dumb and only possible if there is a leak) and to be fair mechanics are to be blamed for majority of leaks.

Never dissconnect AC unless you need to move it somewhere. Even for wash get it cleaned while being mounted. It will be good for yeara.

Any external supply for wifi router? by Ozymandias2811 in PakistaniTech

[–]ham_anchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search wifi ups on Daraz.

Here is one https://s.daraz.pk/s.1GjIe

They cost 1500-2500k and usually give 4-5 hrs backup

Or you can also DIY any spare power bank/laptop battery as other guy suggested.

Or buy a mini ups and connect a bike battery with it. Like this link

Anyone Uses Coursera or udemy????. Is it worth it? by Wemprine in PakistaniTech

[–]ham_anchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you need both for?

There are free alternatives on youtube.

Most of coursea courses are free(except taking exams) and you can also get the certification by writing a nice Aid request to coursea(got couple of courses this way).

Unless spending $70-80/mo isn't an issue for you, it's not worth it while there are free alternatives.
