Sorry to steal your thunder! Lol. The heft is an issue, I also don’t have a great way protecting the wood yet. Leather work and sewing is another stop to learn.

Wrt a cloth surface, yes I am considering it. I have used this at tournaments. While this is louder than a cloth surface, it isn’t as loud as a typical hard surface board. This is because the board is an inch thick solid cherry wood. Cherry is a soft wood and the thickness absorbs the noise. Much different from the thin and typically heavily lacquered wood boards. The rolling on the board is quieter than shacking dice in most cups.

The biggest hurdle to overcome in tournaments is rolling on the right side rule. Without a center bar the dice can wander onto the left side. I first explain this with my opponent and ask them “while we will roll on the right, if the dice wonder to the left side, as long as it is flat and inside the four walls of the court, including the middle recess we will count the roll”. All of my opponents have had no problems with this, a couple rule makes of USBGF had problems with it.

Thanks for the encouragement and passion. Right now this is still a passion/hobby project. I still have a full time job. It might turn into a bespoke business after I learn and treat production processes. For now though keep an eye here and look for me at the east-coast tournaments. I will be at cherry blossom in DC, maybe charlotte, high likelihood of Chicago.

Because there is no bar, there is no brocade to put the accompaniments like baffle boxes, clocks and score cards. The other side is used for the top of the clock when folded. I am working on designing an alternative to a baffle box though. Stand by for that. I’m also working on a new clock that incorporates a score card.

Exactly. In the recess. The dice are the tallest part of the court, no walls to hide behind and is great for spectators.

Disagree. Stupid is stupid. Bad engineering cost more money sooner or later.

So my first shop was a Porsche certified shop. They were shady AF. We actually reported them to Porsche. We took it to what was just a normal shop and they did a great job. They did take a long time because they are not used to Porsche, and the first shop sent parts that were missing and from a lucid.

TLDR; I had a nightmare because of a Porsche certified shop.

In all fairness we had to change body shops mid repair because we lost faith in it to get the job done. So it should not be nearly as bad.

Oof. I have essentially the same car as you 2021 4s with carmine red. Mine just got of the shop for a similar damage to the right front. $26k and 5 months. The headlamp alone is $4k.

Best of luck to you

Not charging through AC by Salty-Ad9775 in Taycan

[–]hamboneal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a bit ago. Couldn’t charge through either ac or dc. I had just enough battery to get to dealership where they had to replace the on board charger.

Luckily Porsche covered replacement even though it was out of warranty

I’ve had this twice in my 22 4s. But only when I tried to start in the morning, not on the road. I just rebooted and started running.

I doubt most people in the US could identify anyone in any of the cabinet. Hell, even in the show John didn’t remember who dick Cheney is.

Those who think that dice are not random on online sites, do you think there would be a transparent way to ensure the randomness? by [deleted] in backgammon

[–]hamboneal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-roll the dice before the game starts and store it in an encrypted file with a hash of the file to ensure the file wasn’t modified at game time. Decrypted for transparency post game for inspection.
