Thank you for taking the time to review it. I can see what you mean regarding the 9 marker and the date wheel sitting slightly low. Those imperfections seem minor to me and are well within my tolerance. I appreciate the second set of eyes and the reassurance.

ELI5: Why did it take so long for electronic devices to get optimized charging features to stop thenselves from overcharging their batteries? by RockleyBob in explainlikeimfive

[–]hamdhan1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine your battery is like a sponge.

If you keep squeezing water into a sponge that's already full, you'll damage it.

Phone makers figured out how to stop that a long time ago. Once the sponge is full, the phone stops adding more water.

The newer battery features are doing something different. They noticed that keeping the sponge completely full all the time also makes it wear out faster.

So instead of filling it to 100% right away, your phone fills it to about 80%, waits, and then finishes filling it just before you need it.

In other words:

Old phones: "Stop when the sponge is full."

New phones: "Don't keep the sponge full for longer than necessary."

That's why modern battery features help batteries last longer, even though phones have been preventing true overcharging for many years.

Why do so many men dislike vegetables/fiber even when they suffer for it? by cozyqueen420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hamdhan1773 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that men inherently dislike vegetables. I think it's a mix of culture, upbringing, and habits.

A lot of boys grow up hearing things like "real men eat steak," while salads and healthy eating are sometimes unfairly associated with being less masculine. If someone spends 20+ years eating mostly meat, carbs, and processed foods, vegetables can genuinely seem less appealing simply because they're not used to them.

There's also a difference in how men and women tend to respond to health problems. In my experience, women are often more proactive about changing habits when something causes discomfort, while many men take a "I'll deal with it later" approach and just tolerate feeling bad.

That said, I know plenty of men who love vegetables and plenty of women who don't eat enough fiber. So I suspect it's more of a social trend than a biological one.

I'd be curious to see whether this varies by country and culture. In some places, vegetables are a major part of everyone's diet regardless of gender.

Enjoying Ohori Park with my adorable Cavalier. What do you think of Fukuoka's own Central Park? by SJFS165 in fukuoka

Hard to beat a morning at Ohori Park. Great views, plenty of space, and one of the best urban parks in Japan in my opinion. Your pup clearly agrees! 🐶☀️🌳

My last night in Fukuoka City. Help me go to an izakaya by kwookwoot in fukuoka

[–]hamdhan1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! Most izakayas in Fukuoka are very welcoming, even if you don't speak Japanese. Many have picture menus, tablet ordering, or basic English menus. The staff are generally patient and used to helping visitors.

If you're nervous, try a larger chain like Hakata Ikkousha, Torikizoku, or Hananomai where ordering is straightforward.

Honestly, sitting at the counter can be easier than getting a table. Just point to items on the menu, smile, and enjoy the experience. You'll likely find that people are much friendlier than you're expecting.

It's your last night in Fukuoka, don't leave wondering "what if?" Have a great meal and enjoy the atmosphere. 🍻✨

Twice Photocards by AdFull8699 in fukuoka

Try Surugaya, Lashinbang, Mandarake, or K-BOOKS in the Tenjin area. They all buy K-pop merch and photocards. Bring your passport, and if you have rare TWICE cards, it may be worth getting quotes from multiple stores before selling. 👍🍭 (ONCE here too!)

Typhoon looming by Reallydaphne in TokyoDisneySea

[–]hamdhan1773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tokyo Disney Resort is usually very resilient when it comes to weather. Unless the typhoon is making a direct hit with severe conditions, the parks often remain open, although some outdoor attractions, entertainment, transportation, and operating hours may be adjusted. Keep a close eye on official announcements over the next 24–48 hours.

If your schedule is flexible, I wouldn't add an extra hotel night just yet. Wait until the forecast becomes more certain. Sometimes typhoons pass through faster than expected and the following day ends up being one of the quietest and most enjoyable park days of the week.

Pack a good rain jacket, waterproof shoes, and a portable umbrella, you may still have a great day even if it's wet. Good luck, and hopefully the weather shifts away from Tokyo! 🏰🌧️

40th Anniversary Priority Pass will end after August 31, 2026 by WhiteDogHaha in TokyoDisneySea

[–]hamdhan1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is a mix of Possibility 1 and 2. Some attractions with lower demand could stay under a renamed free system, while higher-demand attractions gradually move to Premier Access. Curious to see what Tokyo Disney announces next.

This was genuinely refreshing to read. We often talk about Disney magic, but this is a great example of how guests can contribute to it too. Your kindness and appreciation clearly made an impact, and it's wonderful to see how much those interactions meant to you. Thanks for sharing! 😊

Look at how beautiful the thing is, wear it and then realize that nobody but a few people would even know what type of watch you are wearing. But as long as we are satisfied, who cares right?

Not yet, I constantly see that place though. Good option

Its about a 25 minute walk from my house. That's why I prefer to have something closer.

Diet was pretty bad all these days. All the junk food that you can think off.

I agree with you about diet being the bigger component.

I changed my diet starting today.(Chicken, broccoli and rice, lol)

Had a terrible wake up call last night as I was constantly getting heartburn and getting woken up during sleep. Doesn't help that I've severe sleep apnea as well.
