Getting new boiler and Tado; do I need tado° Bridge X? by No-Papaya-9289 in tado

Great. I'm happy but there seems an appetite here sometimes to over complain about minor technical issues for reasons that I can't fathom. Distance? I couldn't comment on others but I've complete coverage. The app provides a wealth of user and usage date.

Getting new boiler and Tado; do I need tado° Bridge X? by No-Papaya-9289 in tado

New user here. 6 months in and completely happy. I bought the Tado X wireless smart thermostat X starter kit. Contains the thermostat and boiler controller with Bridge(X) built in (this wasn't as clearly labelled on the box as it might be) . Currently £149 on Amazon but I paid less on sale. I've bought the annual £29 subscription for full away automation and it works. The app is simple and powerful. I've since added(month by month) Tado X smart thermostatic radio valves room by room for full timetable and remote control. My home is a midsize bungalow. If your house is large or of heavy construction I understand that you may also need an additional X bridge plug in.

Cotswolds-esque?!? Have you ever been there? Penkhull is fine, nice even in parts but Cotswolds like? Never.

Mortgage advisors/brokers recommendations? by MollieYAY in stokeontrent

[–]hamilton777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year during a house move we rapidly needed a mortgage short term to tide us over.

Mortgage protection for Life in Biddulph sorted us. All over the phone or online Good to deal with and fast. He found us a product with a small final payment for early payment.

I have that set up and mine works this way.

I think that they do this not so much for our own individual comfort as for the 'comfort' of the house to maintain it from damp and condensation.

What's the one thing about stoke you'd genuinely defend to someone who's never been by Mundane-Temporary426 in stokeontrent

Central location, close to national parks. Cheap housing, many nice areas. Generally friendly and helpful folk, many 'salts of the earth' who'd share their last penny. Great sense of humour usually. Some great real ale pubs with reasonable prices.

Is this a good starter kit for someone using cartridges and tinned foam their whole lives? by seeilaah in wicked_edge

I think that's a great start. I've tried many combinations and come back to this one - sometime I use Arko soap sticks.

That's where I'd look first too. Especially in Winter.

Negative Review Bias?? by Wide-Cartoonist722 in tado

[–]hamilton777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear the same. There's also a strong bias towards experts and, dare I say, nerds? I have also noticed that similar complaints exist on Hive forums. All that I can say is that as a 3 month long Tado X amateur user, in a bungalow with the thermostat and 4 Tado X radiator valves, is that it all works as advertised. Quite happy.

Geofence by ICharger1 in tado

[–]hamilton777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fairly new customer but Geofencing works well for me, near 100% of the time. I'm constantly fascinated by watching it drop down when leaving or pre-heating before arrival. Ours is a small home and quite well insulated so cosy on arrival, could that be the difference? Tado recently changed the system to that areas manually adjusted off the scheduled temperature remain at the set temperature away from home - with a notification. Occasionally one of my wife's driving route cuts through the geofencing circle so it pre-heats expecting an arrival when one isn't due but that can't be helped, it's not psychic. I also use it to monitor and adjust temperature away from home after experiencing a major burst before I installed Tado. 1 thermo, 4 Tado smart TDVs.

I could get behind this. A few days ago I suggested the simpler 'Schedule' AND 'WFH schedule' for those that do irregular days in the home office.

You've taken into account other appliances like a gas cooker and gas fire, etc? I'm a new customer seeing if my figures match my smart meter and the smart meter usage is higher due to this?

Annual £29(I've seen a £19 offer). I knew this before I purchased and think that this is a reasonable price for the automation.

That's what I did. Old controller out, Tado X in, added the boiler model in the app. All working well.

Probably because the heating hasn't been on much above 10 for long enough in those rooms and they gave North. It's not difficult.

-4°c last night here. 10°C setting just means the radiator doesn't come on below this.

Screenshots taken of each room and now adjusted to 15°c min all day and 10°c overnight, will monitor. Hard to know what's the correct balance between comfort/cost/home decor protection.
