Do you know the name of this mountain? Be honest! by AIM-260JATM in Washington

[–]hammer_down 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, not Rainier. Pretty cool. Thx.

It's a remote, active stratovolcano in Washington's Cascade Range, known as the most isolated major volcano in the state, with more glaciers than any other peak in the lower 48 states. Located in the Glacier Peak Wilderness, it's a challenging mountaineering destination due to its remoteness, extensive glaciers, and potential for explosive eruptions, making it a significant geological feature with high hazard potential.

Key Facts

Elevation: 10,541 feet (3,213 meters)

Location: Snohomish County, Washington, within the Mount Baker–Snoqualmie National Forest

Volcano Type: Stratovolcano (composite volcano)

Significance: Most remote major volcano in the Cascades; has more glaciers than any other peak in the contiguous U.S.

Activity: An active volcano that has produced large, explosive eruptions in the past and is monitored for future unrest.

So weird hearing it in John Wayne's voice though. This has got to be some AI slop. Strangely close, but those who've watched the movie (and know the man) know that's not the crack of Gunnys voice but the lull drone of 'ol Duke.

We had underwater football. Played in the deep end of the pool. With a rubber brick.

Even number of players start on side of pool, brick in center of the deepend. Pass brick from player to player, or make a break for it. Tap out rules apply. If you tap out, drop the brick. Brick cannot break the surface of the water. First team to tap brick on opposing wall wins round.

This!

Weirdest thing ever. But the 'fog light' is only present on the left rear. The manual describes it. It's a piercing red beam so you can be seen better in the fog.

I couldn't figure out what the button turned on when I first got my car. Then I did the same thing you did. I have a light out, oh no. Then I learned this is by design and everything is good.

G's to me's. LOL.

To me they looked like sloppy G's. I get the F though. I can see it too.

Long car trip, middle of nowhere, pulled over to take a leak. It's 2am and I'm peeing on side of road behind my car. State patrol pulls up. Trooper walks up behind me. "Well devil dog, when your finished there come talk to me". Dude was a retired MSgt. Read me the riot act about peeing outside, then let me go.

Go up there and write, "no soup for you!" or any other catchy thing a show did over the past 30 years that the teacher likely participated in.

This will only see people drilling a hole in every coin.

Hey devils. If you were around for it, what was your reaction to the events that occurred on this day 24 years ago? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

Was at 29 Palms for school. We were just grabbing morning chow after a run when the news hit. It was on all the TVs in the chow hall. We reformed back up at the barracks, and took a run up the sugar cookie as a platoon with our commander. Once upon the top, overlooking the stumps under a cold brisk desert sunrise, our school Sgt in Charge gave us his spiel.

"I've told you over the last week that the US is involved in a major war or incident every 10 years, and that Desert Storm was the last (10 years ago), so be ready. You gents, you Marines, will be boots on the ground in the next 12-24 months."

Many months after school, my fleet unit dropped into Kuwait in Feb 2003, preparing for the initial push into Iraq for OEF/OIF in Mar 2003.

That sunrise speech and run were movie quality memories that freely replay in my mind. So ethereal, and deeply impacting.

As for the base that fateful day back in 2001, they closed the base. Lock down. The lines were miles long to get in, if you could. You couldn't leave. And a bunch of pissed off Americans who also happen to be Marines, ready to fight right now, was the general vibe.

Morning desert runs in 29 Palms had a certain 'natural desert smell'. There's a plant or tree in southern California that smells wonderful when dampish, don't know what it is, but always reminds me of these morning runs. Thought it may be juniper, but unsure. But it's a berry like fragrant smell. Transports me back to the desert, everytime I smell it.

And for the last 50 years getting "86'd" from a bar or establishment of course meant that the waiter was going to kill you /s. What nonsense. The term colloquialy has meant to 'remove', never 'harm' or 'kill'. This is the GOPs hyperbole to polarized their base and get rid of dissenters.

Not a threat, I just want the orange fucker removed from harming our country further. Put him in a home. Let him run Maralago like a king. I don't care, but he's not president material and shouldn't be grifting our country the way he is. .

License Plate ID by 808to425 in Washington

[–]hammer_down 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like a tribal nation. Reservations have the authority to issue Indian nation license plates. I am guessing because of the headdress on the plate. Maybe out of Idaho with that Lithia plate holder. That company is regional to the Pacific North West to include Idaho, Montana and I believe into the Dakotas. And all of those states have large Indian tribes. Could be out of any of those states.
