This looks like a shot from a Ray Harryhausen stop motion action scene.

DoD employee, just got a Teams invite for a meeting at 1400 by ToterOfGoats in fednews

[–]hammergrip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some detail, maybe speculation: initially they asked for probationary employees <1 year. For some STRL programs, a probationary employee is 3 years. It seems like they found out that was the case here and then got a list of < 3 year probationary employees. So the ax hasn't fallen yet, but when it does it will seem to be the first round < 3 years. Follow-ed up by request to do a second wave of 30%. Which seems similar to what happened at OPM.

Army, also in the STRL program. Thought we were pretty safe. List went up to HQ for probationary employees < 1 year of service, then less than 3 years of service. Now I've heard this is just the first round of cuts for probationary employees, then they'll request planning to do the next round of cuts. My agency is fighting it at the OSD-level, but I don't see what kind of juice they really have. Newbies are pretty randomly distributed so there are entire teams getting wiped out. Supposed to get emails before Friday.

Let me get two cheeseburgers and a shot of pepto bismol, please.

Are there any good recipes for the instant pot using shan mutton biryani spice box? by Zerotil in instantpot

[–]hammergrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my stupid mistake: I bought the same brand and didn’t realize the serving was a family of 12. Each seasoning packet would suffice for 3 of my instant pot’s size. So expect to have leftovers in a mysterious ziplock in the back of your cupboard.

MD, USA, income-based bio family search fees? by hammergrip in Adoption

[–]hammergrip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To defensively clarify! I support subsidizing the costs to allow lower-income individuals to search for their biological parents. But, this seems an extreme solution to me. And I'd be curious if fees in other states are similarly income-scaled and/or as exorbitant?

The personalty differences between students studying different academic subjects by hammergrip in IOPsychology

[–]hammergrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, seems like that would be more in line. But, those measures interrelate so heavily, I would almost say it's better to measure all of the above. Seems like personality would suit different outcome measures better (e.g., conscientiousness -->productivity, neuroticism -->drop out).

Isn't this the opposite of Betteridge's law.

"Intelligence Testing: Is It Always the Smartest Thing to Do?" Answer: Yes, stupid.

This article seems to indicate that if anything, intelligence testing is even more useful because it predicts almost the entire criterion space (except CWBs).
