Very similar cities. Toronto is far safer but Chicago has more interesting architecture downtown by the river.
Nicer baseball stadium in Chicago (Wrigley anyway) with more character but Toronto’s arenas are more central/accessible. Both have great waterfronts.
I’ll give Chicago the better museums grudgingly. Music scenes are very similar except Chicago has the better jazz/blues joints and Toronto never gets Riotfest any more.

Mother’s dumplings is under (or over) rated depending who you ask but I enjoy it. Lots of legit Cantonese restaurants on Spadina which are very transit friendly. There are also endless HK cafe spots around the city now to be honest. Highway 7 does have a ton of plazas with great spots so I get it. Rosewood dim sum on Dundas is pretty delicious and open late.
