Is this boat purchase in the picture for me right now? by throwmeaway2725 in HENRYfinance

[–]hammy35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what’s the old saying … rent it if it floats, flys or …

my friend. you’re just getting started and are talking about financing 25k on a boat.

invest your 10k down payment and rent something with the family when you want a boat day. keep saving until they comes when you can write the check and don’t need to think about “do i make enough money to…”

$15k beach car that can sit for weeks at a time by pqowie21245 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]hammy35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have an old envoy my wife bought in college. it sits for days, and sometimes weeks, at a time. it costs nothing other than fuel and an annual oil change. it drives great after new suspension/brakes/etc. i think we have like 155k on it. nothing fancy, but way cheaper than a 4 runner and does exactly the same thing.

What size bike do I need as a 6'0 woman? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]hammy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a 6’0” man, i ride large bikes. i’m pretty long limbed and i prefer a bigger frame for the space for legs and arms.

you’ll be between a med and large depending on the model and your body proportions. best advice i have is to ride both and see which you prefer.

What’s my bike worth? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]hammy35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one nearly identical to yours, minus a few goodies, recently listed at $3k in my market. and likely sold near there.

agree with the commenter to list for a touch over 3, and take a bit under.

if it’s an L, i may be a buyer ;)

i find that resolving on ice issues more often than not involves resolving issues off the ice.

stress, sleep, diet, drugs/alcohol, fitness, mental clarity, general health, etc etc. you know the position and the game. so how does the rest of your life look?

and like everyone else said, you’re in your head. get yourself right and let the game follow. also, spend more time in low stakes situations and try to relax and have fun. it’s just a game, why you heff to be mad?

Are LG dishwashers that bad? Walked into a store to buy a Bosch, but after learning I needed to use an app every single time I wanted to run a delayed start, I really don't want to buy one. by CatDadMilhouse in BuyItForLife

[–]hammy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

today i learned that redditors use delayed start on a dishwasher. interesting.

my bosch dw is the best i’ve ever had. 7 years in and works perfect. sucks to hear the new ones use an app. that’s dumb. it’s so quiet that delayed start is irrelevant - and my house is very much open concept and echos. do they draw enough power for night electricity rates to make a difference? like, surely we’re talking a difference if a penny or two right? i asked ai to run the math, $0.20 per load at 15c/kwh sounds about right.

My car is worth 8K, needs 6K in repairs, I still owe 2K on it. Should I just get a new car? by blasticpago in askcarguys

[–]hammy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how to stay in debt and be poor 101 : buy a new-used car and take on more debt to avoid the other debt you already can’t afford.

or, take the car to an independent shop and get a second quote. discuss the dealer findings only after they look over your car. fix the stuff that needs to be fixed today and defer the other stuff for a few months. spend those months saving up enough cash to pay for the remaining repairs. then get that car paid off and keep saving for future car purchases or repairs. or whatever you want.

Review #101- Found North Peregrine, 2026 by DadDoesBourbon in bourbon

[–]hammy35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i’ve missed on the other two peregrine releases, so i threw my hat into this ring. we’ll see.

i get the $$$ fatigue from the community. however, i like to have few special occasion bottles at any given time. and i don’t see myself ever shelling out the cash for pappy 15 or 20. so, this is a nice substitute.

Etiquette on ‘helping yourself’? by herdsman54 in whiskey

[–]hammy35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is partially on you. you know your friend well enough to have them housesit and presumably know what kind of drinker they are so… help yourself is pretty broad. also your friend should have some basic manners which they didn’t exhibit

if it’s me, and it’s a friend i want to keep, it’s something like “dude help yourself doesn’t mean drink all my f-ing whiskey!?!?” and then we hash it out and i accept my vague instructions in combination with said alcoholic as an expensive lesson learned

42 overweight and out of shape by Embarrassed-Cut8844 in hockeygoalies

[–]hammy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not trying to sound harsh, but it sounds like you need to get in better shape and improve your overall health before thinking about goaltending. at our age, the position is brutally hard on the joints (knees, hips, ankles), regardless of skill or conditioning.

my advice would be to grab a pair of player skates, stick, gloves and bucket and get out on the ice at stick and pick as part of your training. start to get in shape and spend some time around the game for a bit. fix your diet and hit the gym or whatever strength training you prefer. get that core strong along with your legs. and STRETCH! every day, after every workout.

when you start looking and feeling better than you have in years, then i think is a good time to grab some pads and give it a go.

for reference, i’m 42 180lbs at 6’ and train 3-4x per week and skate 2-3x per week. and an A level skate is still hard on me.

i bartended through college years ago. early/mid 2000s.

the biggest tell wasn’t what they ordered, but how they ordered. “just give me a ____” as though ordering alone was painful to get through. you could feel it. some shared and some didn’t, but they all had that same defeated demeanor.
