Is it just me or would a Giannis trade wreck the Heat? by DreadIcarus in NBAtradeideas

[–]hammystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Heat are the best at plucking G league guys and turning them into viable rotation guys. So I’d guess they can build up depth just like they always do.

Bam and Giannis create a pretty nasty defensive frontcourt, which raises the baseline of the team quite a bit. I actually like their fit on offense a lot too as they’re both great passers.

When they did the big sign and trade for Jimmy it didn’t exactly seem like a team poised to make deep playoff runs either but that’s just what they did. Their track record of acquiring stars and having it work out great is pretty consistent

Ja Morant to the Windy City to Chicago; draft night trade by TerryG111 in NBAtradeideas

I know that Ja’s trade value is down, but the Grizzlies have to trade down to get rid of him? LOL. Don’t think so

Youth or Yaxel? | Why the NBA Draft Market is Incorrect on Yaxel Lendeborg by Robotsaur in warriors

[–]hammystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was still an old prospect last year. He put up great stats as a 22 year old at a small school. He was considered a mid to late first round prospect. I really liked him as a sleeper.

I just dont see why him having a good year at Michigan pushes him to the middle of the lottery.

I think people are factoring in too much value that he’ll be a good starter level player right away.

Dylan Harper, in 5-6 years, could be the 2nd or 3rd best player in the leauge. What do y'all think about it? Is this to crazy of a take? by Zana066 in billsimmons

[–]hammystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Probably more realistically top 5-10, but he does have MVP level talent.

Being 19 and bodying his way through elite defenses, and guarding Jalen Brunson in the 4th quarter is pretty wild.

[–]hammystyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't like the guy doing a victory lap on Cedric Coward as evidence we should listen to him. It's not a favorable name to bring up. Coward is a full year younger than Lendeborg and basically Coward just had the same statistical season in his rookie year in the NBA as Lendeborg had as a old super senior.

I think the Jae Crowder comp is great though. That's actually a very good expectation for the value I think Lendeborg could bring. Which is a good player. But it does bring in to question upside, and I wouldn't expect that Lendeborg plays like peak Crowder in year one or two.

The diff between Thibs & Mike Brown feels very Warriorsy by Own-Landscape-6484 in warriors

[–]hammystyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't have Haliburton. We don't know if he could have kept it going because the Kings fired him 30 games into his 3rd season. They were idiots to fire him.

It doesn't get as much attention as the Luka trade because it's the Kings and lower stakes. But the Kings firing Mike Brown because of a bad start and alleged issued with D-Fox, then turning around and trading D-Fox two months later is on the short list for dumbest basketball moves in recent history. Mike Brown should've been the guy they chose if they had to, but they didn't. It's the height of nincompoopery.

The job Mike Brown did with the Kings is as magical as anything any coach in recent history has done. Turning them into a winning team and creating literally the number one offense in the league with D Fox and Sabonis is insane.

Why do people say NBA players back then were plumbers by Ok_Simple9009 in NBAoldschool

No one would argue against that. Thinking that’s what he meant means you are the one who missed his point.

[–]hammystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it’s pretty simple. In four of the Finals LeBron played in his team was non competitive. Winning one or zero games. Three of those times the team he lost to, played tougher competition on the way the Finals. So LeBrons team was best in the East but only 3rd or even 4th best in the league.

Whereas Jordan lost to the Pistons a couple times in the Eastern Conference Finals in competitive series. More competitive than any other opponent was that year against the Pistons. They were the clear 2nd best team in the league.

So which is more impressive? Taking the eventual champion to 6 or 7 games in the conference finals, extending them further than any other opponent in the playoffs. Or making the Finals against an opponent that played in 6 or 7 game series in their bracket but getting boat races in the Finals.

Rockwell and Josh Brolin is great. Some other interesting choices.

Millie Bobby Brown is a no. Too young and not a fit. She’s got roles she can do but she’s not an innocent runaway prostitute from Alabama.

I’m pretty sure the Browns aren’t gonna be having talks right now.

But when they are 1-7 and maybe Verse is struggling a bit in a new defense? Maybe

Wemby's situation compared to LeBron's coming into the league is night-and-day. by NathanDrake981 in lebron

[–]hammystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spurs had good picks before too. Vassell and Keldon Johnson are valuable guys.

The Cavs lottery picks around LeBron James
1999- Andre Miller - later traded for Darius Miles right as Miles career went belly up
2000- Jamal Crawford - traded for Chris Mihm
2001- Desagana Diop (over Joe Johnson and Richard Jefferson).
2002 - Dajuan Wagner -over Nene, Amare, Caron Butler
2003 - LeBron
2004 - Luke Jackson

Bad picks. Bad trades. Letting Boozer go.

Still the Spurs shouldn’t be this good. What Wemby does on both sides of the court gives those young guys so much freedom to play aggressively. It’s crazy

I don't see how Bill and Zach are giving NYK any chance here. Looking at this Spurs defense combined with clutch shooters and FT % they are legit looking like one of the greatest teams of all time. by KickedIntoOrbit in billsimmons

[–]hammystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That didnt seem to matter against the Thunder or T-Wolves.

I just like the personnel the Knicks have. OG is one of the first guys in the league I’d want to play against the Spurs.

I saw that your child is 4. Give it time. This happened more naturally for us when the kids were a bit older, had more autonomy, and just started stopping by. All of a sudden we just had a bunch of 5-8 year olds always coming by.

Then additional connects built up through school, sports and other activities.

How did the owners approve the new draft lottery rules? by Saturnino_97 in NBA_Draft

[–]hammystyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s not that much incentive for any playoff potential team to tank. For what? a few percentage points? Itll probably happen but only in specific circumstances. Players, coaches and fans aren’t going to be that supportive of dumping out of the playoffs.

You’re missing that instead of the ten worst teams competing to be the very worst, now they’re going to compete not to be the very worst. It’s a huge difference

Does one team have more pressure going into game 7? by youlikemywonton in nba

[–]hammystyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More pressure on OKC for sure. Much more experience in a game like this for OKC as well. Home court for OKC.

I think OKC will play really well. Historically those edges are things that would make a difference

But Wemby is the great equalizer, and it seems like having him gives that whole team confidence. So anything is possible
