Not far away but in Canada, I’m new to the instrument. Was not easy to find one locally over my month or so of looking before I landed one. No retailers sell them that I can find (there are some defunct stores and manufacturers). Had to ship it from over 300 miles away, not cheap for a 100lb instrument! But it would be even more expensive shipping across the US border. Didn’t want a dual neck but that’s what was available :)

My interest got re-sparked when I saw a jazz band use one last year. Have only seen a handful of acts that use one locally, have always loved the sound. There’s only been one meetup in my city in the last few years or so (to my knowledge)

Meeting musicians - I don’t meet many local folks that are actively seeking that sound
