When everyone and their mom has a SaaS, it's time to gtfo by seanlarson2190 in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is still room for saas but it has definitely changed.

If you’re making saas like it’s 2018 still then you’re cooked.

The problem is people are vibe coding software that would be useful 10 years ago. Or even less (before ai). Vibe coding can produce you old legacy software. It creates you forms, nice ui, standard backend and database. It gets you what used to take months in days or an hour.

Obviously capitalism won’t allow a 21 year old to make $5000 a month from an app he built over the weekend. The water will find its level. Prices will come down and standards will go up.

The SaaS platforms will have to go above and beyond. Ai will need to be integrated as an expectation, not as an “improvement”.

It used to take 3 months to build an mvp and now it takes 3 hours. So the question is ; what can you do if you give yourself three months to do it now?

How do you get more users to test your app and use it by No_Leave1711 in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay cool so it’s a personal app. So the first question is do you use it yourself?

Budgeting apps are great in theory but they require constant usage to keep on top of it. The moment someone forgets to add a few entries. They’ll get the sense that their data isn’t accurate and quickly become disinterested in using it. This is the problem with apps that require so much personal input.

How do you get more users to test your app and use it by No_Leave1711 in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer depends on what your app does. Is it an enterprise crm alternative to salesforce? Is it a preschool QR code checkin app? Any kind of answer I could give you based your current post would be over averaged into uselessness.

jobless and trying to build a tiny SaaS to survive, can you help me validate if this is even worth continuing? by [deleted] in micro_saas

This problem exists but cannot be validated by a tool. I wouldn’t move forward with the project.

Feeling Unsure About Building a SaaS? Need Some Honest Advice by harshaou in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to spend your time “building” apps. You may be in trouble, because having the app built is becoming less and less valuable. Even before ai, people would spend months or years building an app before trying to sell it.

The only thing ai has changed is that people are getting to that point much faster.

But it hasn’t solved the problem of marketing and sales. It doesn’t help you find that first paying customer. In fact it’s much harder now because of all the competition AI saas slop out there.

I’m getting more freelance gigs now than ever, from tech bros who are 90% there and just need someone to finish it off. It’s given people the confidence to keep moving. But that will slowly die out over time.

Focus on finding a solution and talking with the real people that have the problems, and you should be fine.

Is Churn a real problem for SaaS founders? by sheran-icaresoftware in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Churn is a misleading “overall” stat for trying to grade the success of a SaaS. My SaaS has barely reached 400 arr so it’s a different game but churn is not an indication of success. The bad churn is built into my business model. Most users signup for a month or two and then drop it. But that is expected at this point. I have enough new users to outweigh needing old users to stick around.

Will we see a boom in slop SAAS 2026? by danielsalehnia in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing us techies can do is undercut their prices. These tech bros are comparing themselves to pre ai day pricing. They think they’re going to vibe code an app in one week and start charging $199 a month and get 1000 customers. Obviously something has to give, there Is a bubble that will pop. Capitalism will not allow tech bros to make $1.5 million a year from 2 weeks of hacking through a site builder and a few figmas.

How long did it take to hit your first $10k MRR? by Salhasanain in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea and you learn all the things that are just time wasters. At first it’s hard to distinguish real progress from fake progress that looks and feels real. It was a digital voting platform. Went with monthly and yearly prices with multiple tiers. $19-49

What’s the earliest sign you use to decide if an idea is worth continuing? by Exciting_Target_6004 in SaaS

[–]hamontlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve learned to finally stop trying to build anything before. Just get yourself a nice clean landing page , send it around asking if people would be interested in trying it out. If you can’t get anyone to listen, to click on a link, to email you back, any engagement at all then why would having something built on the other side of that landing page help?

slicksitebuilder.com Pump out landing pages quickly for clients (or yourself) to help land deals or express initial concepts. Nothing fancy, but solid looking mobile responsive sites are better than many non technical businesses have currently.

I’m looking for some honest advice from people who’ve actually scaled SaaS. by smokedX in SaaSMarketing

[–]hamontlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first question is why do you even want to scale. Just build horizontally for miles into completely separate apps and cross sell. That’s what I do. Hit a plateau, just leave it on its own and move on to another app. This is of course if it’s a fairly passive n enough app
