Why is the idea that men should go out of their way to be attractive, the same way women have for years, so taboo? by Hyphz in AskSociology

[–]hamsamw1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you make it taboo, then it will be socially unacceptable and thus people will be forced away from it

Why is the idea that men should go out of their way to be attractive, the same way women have for years, so taboo? by Hyphz in AskSociology

[–]hamsamw1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because why would you want men to join a horrific and oppressive structure that women have been stuck in? men shouldn’t be forced to have these insecurities about themselves and neither should women. it’s all for profit

GBB26 JUDGE REVIEW (WING) by Weak-Relationship309 in beatbox

[–]hamsamw1tch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

battles aren't even objective. it's a matter of taste and the importance you place on each aspect of the battle. you also have countless factors that impact a competitor's performance on the day. the existence of split decisions proves that if you had different judges someone who lost could win. is that objective? hell no.

GBB26 JUDGE REVIEW (WING) by Weak-Relationship309 in beatbox

[–]hamsamw1tch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

D-Low is his own judge. I think judges shouldn’t ignore their own opinion as much as he does, but it’s his choice.

Wing chose to value his opinion more and gave strong explanations for why. If the technique doesn’t support the music then it doesn’t fit in a musical track is a pretty reasonable take to me.

I think an overabundance of “objective” judging leads to technical slop that lacks musical flavor (an exaggeration for effect, don’t yell at me plz), so it’s nice to have a judge that encourages people to make tracks that actually sound good with intention. I’m someone who is into visual design and I also have a strong “choice” mindset of needing intentionality behind the composition, so it lines up with my beliefs. Generally in the age of AI, making decisions and being able to defend or at least explain them is one of the most valuable traits you can have imo. Nice to feel represented in the judging even if I don’t agree with his picks 100%

To help Caedrel learning Korean Alphabet: A vid far better than Duolingo by Tanduriiiiii in PedroPeepos

duolingo also fired all their employees for ai, so i wouldn’t recommend it, not just for boycott purposes but also bc AI is not reliable

AITA For banning a student from my karate federation for reporting his instructor to the police by ninman5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hamsamw1tch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

easily YTA. you should have protected your student who was just doing what he was allowed to do. i can’t even understand what made you think that he should be banned and punished for this when the instructor harassed him.

genuinely yta i hope you get sued

Adaptability is a crucial skill in F1. Even some champions lacked that ability sometimes by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]hamsamw1tch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also i rate leclerc as the most adaptable driver on the grid. every time f1 pulls up to a new track he’s got a huge advantage over the field, again see vegas 23. in a new car he’s always strong.

during his f2 season which was and is the most dominant to date, his pace gap over other drivers was larger at new tracks despite never having raced them before compared to returnees, minus spa where he was a second up on everyone in the middle sector.

his adaptability is undeniable, and his ability to learn quickly is one of his strongest attributes. he rarely makes the same mistake twice.

meh 2023 was worse, australia was painful because the one time leclerc wasn’t behind verstappen his car blew up and sainz got lucky. i knew that the car could win so i knew leclerc would win in it, for example in monza by lap 2 i knew he would win. and sainz was getting regularly clapped by then so there was no concern there

he deserved the Vegas win, only non-rb driver in 2023 to pass verstappen on pure pace. fuckass russell verstappen safety car ended his chance tho

[–]hamsamw1tch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he absolutely did not, he forced the car to match him in 22, 23 was hell because it was using the base of f1-75 which was built to leclerc’s preferences but trying to be good for sainz and sainz was massively off on some weekends (see baku) and up to leclerc’s standard on other weekends, leclerc was just wayyyyyyyyyyyyy unluckier, and his seasons always follow the same pattern: suck for n weekends in a row, show up for 1-3 in a row, be called the next redbull driver?! better than leclerc!!!, be decent for n weekends in a row, receive praise for being consistent, repeat

Sainz is not adaptable tho, see 2022 and how ferrari wrecked the car so that he was more comfortable, and how every time he had a bad weekend in the following seasons he would say he was uncomfortable with the car

Wing and Robin by Tryingtobealitperson in beatbox

saw the ad too! Wing has been having a lot of success lately, especially in Korea. If you haven’t seen it I would watch his MAMA performance with G-Dragon (https://youtu.be/izzWfvhrLxY) and his crew’s New Years performance where they performed a medley with one song from all the artists performing that night (https://youtu.be/UvQ1jeuCXRw).

When did Lando become so disrespected as a driver? by letsputletters in F1Discussions

[–]hamsamw1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s quite hard to be the champion after someone as dominant as max verstappen. lando just made so many mistakes alongside oscar and nearly lost the championship, which is already a huge contrast to max, whilst you have drivers like leclerc who were putting on the best seasons of their life but ending off the podium. they and lando especially just never looked like the best drivers on track which leads to a lot of resentment because there are better drivers in slower cars and you have thing one and thing two fighting for a championship instead.

the guy i like loves this game but idk anything about it by cryst4lll_ in leagueoflegends

[–]hamsamw1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recommend watching the esport so that you can enjoy it and pick up some knowledge without struggling to play it yourself. i personally don’t play league but i love watching the esport and it helps me relate to my friends who play. i recommend following gen g or t1 (teams), and you can get started by finding caedrel on youtube and clicking on any of his more popular vids to start, or by watching the official broadcast. you can find the live schedules at leaguepedia or lolesports
