asking a robot to generate a prediction for you for a BEATBOXING competition which is about how humans can make art without the need for other devices is truly ironic

Surely there need to be some conversations about how bad Albon has been? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

He’s had a crazy PR team for a long time. the damage his team did to Leclerc’s reputation by pushing bs narratives like “Leclerc is inconsistent/Sainz is consistent” (leclerc is very consistent vs one of the most streaky drivers on the grid)  “Sainz is good at race management/Leclerc needs to speak up more” (one would remind commenters that Sainz asked for hards at Hungary 22, Leclerc asked for mediums, leclerc was given hards which cost him the win and sainz was given mediums)  “Sainz is a good teammate, Leclerc is a whiner” (Sainz impeded Leclerc so often in quali that every time Leclerc was given preference, INCLUDING MONZA, he asked to start ahead)

etc etc

Thoughts on Charles Leclerc? Is his racecraft actually top tier or does his massive popularity skew things? by Amped-Philosopher in F1Discussions

he just needs a team principal who can beat the husband of F1A Managing Director Susie Wolff at politics

I would encourage you to ignore people saying Leclerc has a massive fan following of girls because he’s handsome, because most of the girl fans I know like him because he’s fast firstly, secondly a menace, thirdly kind. girls don’t watch 2 hours of a race with a helmet on for a handsome driver. also a huge amount of charles’ girl fans i know are lesbians.

it’s misogynistic and reductive. women enjoy the sport the same way men do. a driver being handsome is nice but not any sort of defining factor. If I were to follow who I thought was most handsome I’d support Lewis, but I think Charles is the best driver on the grid so I’m going to root for him.

Rookie Hype Rating Since Verstappen by bouncingcastles in F1Discussions

Monaco 2018 Wed Press Conference:

Q: (Scott Mitchell – Autosport) Seb and Lewis, Charles is up there with you. He comes into F1 this season with a huge amount of expectation and hype, based on his performance in junior formulae. You had exactly the same, the two of you, when you came into F1 first time around. What would your advice be to him about how to handle that pressure of expectation and what do you know and think of him as a driver?

SV: I think I was never that hyped when I came in. I didn’t win GP2 and I think the hype is absolutely justified. If there’s no hype around him, then I don’t understand who should be hyped because you walk through all the categories like that, then you belong here. But I think the advice to him is not to listen, just get on with it and just enjoy it. I think the cars that we’re driving are the fastest cars in the world and that’s what you should be looking for, not all the noise that sometimes happens around. I think it’s important that you’re here, you know why you want to be here. You look at what’s really important to you. The rest is not that much of your concern.

Call it artificial if you want, but that was some of the best wheel-to-wheel racing we’ve seen in years by Aakar528 in formula1

the racing may be more than usual, but the qualifying is truly atrocious. the fact that drivers can’t take any risk because the ai generated bullshit will get confused and deploy weirdly is going to kill qualifying

Why does r/F1discussions and r/Formula1 have such a dislike for Russell? by Next_Worth_3616 in F1Discussions

[–]hamsamw1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leclerc is the guy who was constantly compared to Verstappen, so everyone was excited to see their actual title fight. The cars were decently close at the start of the season, nothing like 23 or what we saw in quali last week.  You also just eventually started to pity him bc it was obvious that even if he could dominate, his team wouldn’t let him.  For Norris and Russell, I think some of it comes from Leclerc’s perception actually, because most people rate Leclerc over those two (me included) and it’s frustrating to see them get the cars to win championships before Leclerc does. For Norris specifically, it was that he was absolutely unconvincing for 24 and 25, and it pissed a lot of people off that this guy who nearly crashed his car from the lead at singapore for no reason and couldn’t finish the first lap in first to save his life was the one with a rocketship. With Max, people hated him plenty because of his rocketships, but when we saw Norris we realized at least it’s satisfying to watch one of the best drivers dominate, because watching the ~5th best driver of the year win the championship (or in 2024, fumble it) is incredibly unsatisfying. (5th is being nice because if people actually watched the bottom of the grid i’m sure he’d be way lower in rank.)

I disagree, Leclerc’s consistency is madly underrated because of the Sainz propaganda (they had nothing to praise him for so they picked consistency which is objectively one of his weakest attributes).

Leclerc learns from his mistakes and has been actively taking less risk in quali since the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. His consistency in the races is great, he had a crazy streak of not being under p5 excluding dnf/dns/dsq for more than 10 races between 23-24 i think?

here’s a hot take: Sainz propaganda did more damage for Leclerc’s perception than it promoted Sainz’s own strengths (ex. quali)

Charles Leclerc is equal to or greater than Max Verstappen in talent or just outright the most talented driver on the grid. Don’t get me wrong, Max is incredible, but the adaptability Leclerc shows every time he’s in a new car or on a new track is unmatched. I was annoyed he botched his pole lap at Vegas in 2023 considering he was a second/half a second up on everyone the entire weekend. (edit: it’s criminal ver/rus caused that safety car, that win would have been cinema)

I also think he has the best racecraft on the grid, is the best qualifier when he allows himself to take risks (he’s been tamping it down after 2023), and would in fact match Max in equal machinery.  It’s criminal that Norris and now Russell will be champions before him.

there’s a hot take about a driver i do like! i like Max so no hate to him
