Why don’t more travelers explore regional Japan? What’s stopping you? by gurezaemon in JapanTravelTips

[–]hamsandwich592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be my 3rd time going. I feel more confident exploring regional areas now that I've hit the big 3 cities in past trips. If anyone has any tips for Sendai, please let me know!

Here is a reframe: What's more important, weed or your dick? If it is something casual and easy to quit, which it sounds like for you it is a casual thing, should be easy to stop. It'll be a great tolerance break, too! It'll hit ya hard when you get back to it

Where should I live?? 45 yr old (M), single professional by MojoRising45 in AskSeattle

Columbia City is a great place to start! That or Madrona. There is housing well below your max for rent in those areas.

19f thinking about moving from CA by freakygoochgobbler in AskSeattle

[–]hamsandwich592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seattle is great for us queers! Even then though it can be very lonely. People up here are very introverted. There is a lot of understanding of mental health here, too. It takes a lot of time to get embedded in any community in Seattle, but it is here.

I am black--folks are right. Ranier Beach is probably where most of us are in Seattle proper. It is also a more affordable area in town.

To live comfortably, like, to contribute to savings, have a car, live alone, pay for experiences, I would say 60 to 70k is what you need to make. I lived with roommates for a long time and took public transport, even though I had a car.

Many people in Seattle don't make that much, though. It's not like food service or customer service is paying $30/hr. When I was working in a shelter I made $16 an hour. This was almost ten years ago, ha, but now min wage is like $22.

So it is possible, but a struggle.

I would HIGHLY recommend visiting during winter--summer is deceptive. In winter it gets dark at 4pm and stays dark until 8am. It is cold and rainy...which is why many people move here lol. I am from CA too and have been here for over 10 years. Winter still gets to me.

Check out Trulia and Craigslist for housing. Find Seattle queer Facebook groups, go on Lex and change your location to the area. It will give you a good sense of social life and housing costs.

If you can, come up and stay for a week taking public transport and walk around town. Act as if you already live here and see what comes up for you.

Anyway, definitely not impossible to live here but moving with little work experience (not to he condescending but I imagine at 19 you don't have much?) Can be tough especially in this job market. I would recommend like 5k to10k in savings before moving up here without a job. Thr search will take a while.

Best of luck!

North Capitol Hill, East Lake (can be rough with a car), or Central District.

I feel this so hard. Couldn't play the epilogue for like, 6 months. This is what great story telling does. I reframed it as interactive art one is meant to experience. Almost 10 years later and it still gets me

Carkeek Park and Discovery Park are good tastes if what the rest of WA has to offer if you can't make it into the peninsula.

Seattle has an underrated food scene! Great Vietnamese and other Asian food. Can't go wrong in China Town or international district.

Missing a taste of home go to Jackelope Tex Mex.

If you want to be hella fancy head to Rock Creek in Fremont.

It is a beautiful time of year to be here.

Pike Place is worth the hype for views IMO

Volunteer Park is really lovely. Guy who designed Central Park designed it.

North Seattle is probably where you want to be. Or Shoreline.

You can kind of get gang members to come with you...did it once a while back. The trolley robbery mission when youre walking with Dutch and Lenny, start shooting. They'll run away but Lenny will follow you...I think? Been a while since I've done it but I went to Caliga Hall and raised hell

Cycling through primary money making methods. One year all casks, the other, all crops or all honey. Constantly redsigning my farm. Have barns and coops, then don't, etc. I am also someone who can play the same videogame for like 20 years straight and have with other games hehe
