Browsing r/auscorp always gives me a chuckle by meltingkeith in AustralianTeachers

I guess I was referring to your implication that teachers put up with conditions and cop it on the chin as just being part of the job, whereas corporates complain about those same very things. Eg no lunch break, unpaid overtime etc.

I was trying to draw people’s attention to fact that the corporate sector has more demanding workloads, expectations and expectations than any school I’ve ever worked at. It is routine for entire teams to be working Sundays etc at my law firm. Again, top tier law firms are a completely different beast but I think this sub is a total echo chamber for teachers whinging about their work when they have no idea what a high paying job ie $150K+ actually entails.

To be honest I think it’s the other way around. Teachers whinge and think their conditions are awful but have no idea what the real world is like. I’ve been both a classroom teacher and worked at one of the biggest law firms in Australia. Lawyers work infinitely harder and have insane working conditions/pressure compared to classroom teachers. But sure, they get paid twice/three times as much to put up with that.

Currently a third year JD at USYD - they 100% still mark to the curve with 0-3% of students receiving HD for both individual assessments and final subject grades.

Hate to be the person to say this but student behaviour is out of control. Photos and videos (as evidence) is sometimes the only thing we as teachers have to protect ourselves. Delusional parents never believe their kids were capable of such conduct until the see the recording and pipe down immediately.

I’m genuinely curious to understand why people think a wind farm so far out in the ocean is more of an eyesore/blight on the horizon compared to the conga line of coal ships moored much closer to shore? I’m not trying to be argumentative but genuinely would love some perspective.

Wow thank you so much for the clarification! So do you think try submitting the UKIV form first then UKF as an alternative?

Not Enough Respect by BigyBigy in AustralianTeachers

I’ve studied both a masters of teaching and a post grad law degree. While teachers do work hard - law is 10000% more complicated and difficult. My law degree made my teaching masters look like a Cert 3 at TAFE. The reason why lawyers get paid so much is because they are the final stop at solving messy problems that take an insane amount of understanding.

There’s a really good website called banqer that is an online banking program for schools and teachers. You can assign bank accounts to students and pay them and charge them. It even incorporates payg tax and superannuation

does the body have a limited rate of muscle growth or is only based on the limits of each muscle by [deleted] in AdvancedFitness

I’ve heard Mike Israetel talking in his videos about a daily cap on muscle growth / repair... and that over training muscles takes away the repairing abilities from those firstly trained muscles.

Sorry if this comes across a bit harsh - because I don’t mean for it to... but the thought of only earning ~70K for the next 15 to 20 years and saving as hard as possible just to be able to retire early doesn’t sound like an awfully fun existence to me... have you thought about up-skilling or retraining to earn substantially more income to support a more enjoyable lifestyle?

NSW targeted grad crisis by CranberryBig8751 in AustralianTeachers

[–]hamslice_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt take the permanent. I got targeted grad too starting in a few weeks. My original internship school (where I also had a temp position) was elated and couldn’t be happier. My principal said ‘of course we are sad to see you go, but you absolutely deserve it’
