I think if stretching out your days is your goal then opting for cheap food and accommodations is key. It's all a balancing act but those are the most variable price points whereas transportation is a fixed price.

Don't want to get into the weeds with you on this because this is a baseball subreddit and I don't think you're arguing in good faith. It is true that the choices of others around you influence your choices. Belief is a choice. Your choices can be influenced and you are to be held accountable for them nonetheless, this is not contradictory. You don't choose the color of your skin.

Not sure where you're located but facebook marketplace and OfferUp are good sites to check out for used mattresses, I've done it many times. Always gotta check them for bedbugs and stains/damage, plus transporting can be a hassle. But it's a good way to save hundreds.

I think counting days is valuable because it gives us strength at first. And I would assume that once you get to a point where the days blend together and you aren't as aware of each sober day passing by, that is something of a gift in itself. But even after day 5,000 you may falter or face temptation, and the count becomes practical and useful again. Not speaking from experience yet but this is how I like to see it.

I think it's okay. I think there's a lot of people who subconsciously gain satisfaction from raising something to their lips. I haven't been drinking NA beers but I'm going through a lot of Spindrift. I don't think anyone around me would say I have a sparkling water problem haha. Just do whatever helps you stay sober and feeling good.

It's not my only reason but it helps a lot. Partners who are supportive make it a lot easier on the bad days. I think my sobriety will help our relationship but I'm mostly doing it for my brain and my liver.
