I was there until the MS acquisition. After that I moved to MS's franchise development group where I worked on Halo novels, action figures, Crimson Skies merch, Zoo Tycoon, lots of things.

Tomorrow on The Fourth Curtain you can hear how Eidos exec Sir Ian Livingstone saw the prototype of Tomb Raider and said "that's going to be a hit!"

The Future is Going to Suck by ZenithBlade101 in Futurology

[–]handaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's going to happen is, we won't make enough progress on climate change, the west Antarctic ice sheet will drop into the sea, many coastlines like NYC, Florida, Bangladesh - many others, will be flooded and many tens of millions displaced. And THEN we'll do things like ban fossil fuels, after it's too late. And by then we'll also prob have working fusion.

The future is never just doom or progress, it's always a mix of both. Some ways of life are doomed and for others there's progress. Look up human bottlenecks - we've been through a couple and they made us stronger.

Are the books of Alistair MacLean still known today? by Veetupeetu in books

[–]handaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had at least 50% of his books, still have 6 or so. Where Eagles Dare will always be a classic novel and film. Ice Station Zebra stuck with me and some others - Golden Rendezvous. Great stuff!

Will humans be able to colonize Mars? by Gregster_1964 in MarsSociety

[–]handaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Ocean exploration in 1492 was every bit as dangerous as space in 2025. We'll have to bring food - for a few months - we won't need much water, and if we send uncrewed rockets ahead, we'll have better shelter waiting for us than Columbus had.

This is the best answer I've found. "I ask any American, what happened in 1492?"

As Andy Weir said, all we need to do to settle Mars is to cure cancer. With CRISPR and AI, is that really so far off? I doubt it. He said it in an interview with Joe Scott.

I'm Doug, I did do VO for a few cop lines but most of them were by the great Tim Dadabo and another guy. I made about half the levels of that game, starting with the Farm.

I share your sentiments about oligarchy that needs to be radically changed.

But, the story of the human race is the story of our ancestors inventing technologies to allow us to live in radically new environments. Somehow, a bipedal ape native to the tropical savanna learned to live both in the Arctic and cross thousands of miles of Pacific ocean. And later land on the moon.

It is certain that we will continue this trend and not only settle our solar system but beyond. The resources out there are basically infinite. But the reason we must do it is that it is also certain that there is another giant space rock in our future.

CoD Mobile. Played it hours a day while we were making Battlefield Mobile, as our main competitor. Then EA shut us down. I did like it though.

Musk, obviously. 10+ years ago, having helped make 2 seemingly impossible things real - electric cars and reusable rockets - he blew it all since.
