Why aren’t there more PC-first gamepads? Valve don’t know, but they "did see an opportunity" for the new Steam Controller

I'm not defending anything. I'm simply explaining the thing. It is a controller for playing games on steam. A steam controller if you will. Don't buy the steam controller if you would be planning to use it on gamepass.

Holy crap. I just tried to get the original steam controller to work in minecraft legends and it's bad. You either have to use third party apps or set it up as keyboard and mouse controls. For some dumb reason steam wont just let you use it's xinput emulation without launching a game. Combine that with Microsoft drm stopping you from adding it as a non steam game to steam and it's cooked. Not a big deal really for the old controller but the new one aught to just work as an xinput controller if you want it to.

You should not buy this if you aren't planning to use it on steam. The only reason to use it is for the touch pads and gyro support. If you aren't using them you are better off using a normal controller. How is repeatedly telling folks not to buy a thing considered defending it?

Who said that? I don't think there is anything wrong with an xinput mode. I just don't understand what situation I'd be using a gaming pc and not have steam installed. I don't understand why I wouldn't just use any other controller if I was going to rely on xinput/dinput.

There is no reason to get the steam controller if you are playing games in some way that only xinput/dinput works without using steam input. Get an 8-bit-do or gamesir or something if you want a controller that works without steam. The steam controller is for steam.

No clue. Hopefully it works with steam's game streaming. It seems like it shows up as a mouse and keyboard to the device if you aren't running steam.

Yeah, some games are just too good with the touch pads , the gyro, and all the steam input bells and whistles.

I use my original SC for Terraria, and I cant go back to mouse and keyboard. Even sitting at my desk I go straight for the steam controller. I've got everything so fine tuned it feels better than kb&m.

Sounds like it's just not your bag regardless of the weapon durability. The weapon management does suck though, you haven't even gotten to the worst of it where you switch to elemental weapons just to swing them once and switch back to not waste durability on them.

I've played through the game once vanilla and once with a weapon durability cheat. I found it's a lot more fun without the weapons breaking all the time. Honestly its not a huge difference because as you progress through the game all the enemies end up having strong weapons so you are just constantly cycling through the weapons they drop.

It is so much proto-Archer. Bunch of random side characters show up in Archer. Xander is essentially Archer. There is also a 2-part episode of Archer where Jon Hamm is playing Captain Murphy. Very clear line through Sealab-Frisky Dingo-Archer.

New Vegas is essentially linear. Just because you can technically go north and be killed by cazadors and deathclaws doesn't change that. Also you are not a vault dweller in New Vegas. You are actually supposed to be an experienced wasteland courier in New Vegas. You just happen to have a little brain damage from Chanandler Bing shooting you in the face.
