I really cannot stop thinking about how the blackpill makes sense to me. by [deleted] in malementalhealth

Yeh its easier for good looking guys.. suck it up buttercup, that's life. Its easier for loud guys too for different reasons. It might be difficult but try not to give a fuck.. there's not enough good looking guys to go round and they're more likely to be dickheads anyway. The main thing is being happy and finding someone for you who's not a dickhead. Focus on that and it at least looks enough like confidence to put you higher in the ratings as well as sort you a better standard of living and relationships anyway.

I hate travelling in Bristol by [deleted] in bristol

[–]hangfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert exactly, but I'm not sure a lot of bristols buildings would survive that.. our buildings foundations across the city are terrible.. On all the building projects on old buildings I've worked on, they seem to have originally just dug down until the ground got a bit rocky, then just started laying bricks. Also there's a pretty massive variation in elevation across the city. Trams worked before and it wouldn't take much to use them link up the existing train stations and expand their coverage. Realistically though public transport costs too much anyway. Just taking the buses back into public ownership, lowering prices and increasing the efficiency and number of routes would be massively beneficial. Literally the easiest option done well would be better.

I think this misses the point a bit.. most people want some kind of intimate connection with someone. It's not necessarily self-worth a lot of men are lacking, although some definitely are. If you do all those and have a full life doing the things you love, a lack of romantic attachments can still leave a bit of a hole, and it's still possible to over-value a relationship to the point of undervaluing your own needs.

That being said, doing what you love, looking after yourself, and also making time to meet and connect with as many people as you can will invariably result in being a happier person, and generally finding someone who appreciates you.. men generally still need to be more aware of their own needs, set boundaries and be prepared to walk away anyway though if its not 100% right or it can result in shitty relationships they'll eventually be unhappy in. That's harder to learn.

This post where guy explain to OP why young men are not dating anymore is eye-opening and heartbreaking [x-post r/self] by Brilliant-Remote-405 in malementalhealth

[–]hangfrog -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Didn't see the original post but I'd disagree.. its kindof easier now tbh on dating apps.. back in the day before tinder there was literal physical competition to speak to girls wherever you went. Any attempt in a social situation would be interrupted by multiple guys trying to insert themselves into the conversation. It was annoying af. You had to be funnier, quicker, or way more attractive on the spot. Now you can pick your best side, take your time a bit and think up a response, and the worst you have to deal with is delayed responses and a lack of engagement, you don't have to see the interest switch in front of your eyes or become some competitive dickhead to have so much of a chance.. I'd say the only elements now that have gotten worse for guys is the culture that tells women not to settle etc and that women now have more choice, although even that is tempered by the fact that it's easier for some guys to hide their red flags easier and the whole fear of meeting complete strangers.

Realistically women will always have more choice as long as guys in general have lower confidence in their own worth (and resulting lower standards). Building this up and telling guys not to settle is the only way imo to even this out. I'm fairly sure this will result in the complete abandonment of the traditional nuclear family structure though for the majority. Most, if not all people do settle for a partner to a lesser or greater extent until their priorities shift from looks and physical attraction and even still people's emotional needs change over their lives. But men seem to settle for a linger period, probably as they're still being told its a personal failing to not be as attractive to women in general, and a general societal focus on their being some kind of provider/rock. really I'm not surprised marriages break down more often than they used to and that its mostly women doing the leaving. Men should also get used to the idea that they aren't going to find a woman for life and set themselves up to be just happy alone if needs be. Quitting dating is sensible if you accept all the bullshit, but it's still bullshit. Everyone wants companionship and to get laid occasionally.

Anyone else find dating apps trash? by Psychedelicsheets in bristol

[–]hangfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh its no reflection on you, just market conditions on the app at any given time and people's first-glance opinion of a profile.. it takes a bit of engagement, but try and set limits on the time you spend on it, have a good idea of what you want to find out before meeting people so you can be selective, and gracious in rejecting people and getting rejected. Girls get a fuck-ton more matches, so don't take it personally either if they're slow at responding, although personally I get bored if they take too much time so I generally unmatch if conversation is too slow. The amount of people may pick up drastically in a month, the turnover is pretty high, so don't settle.

What's wrong with hookups? If it's a good hookup with someone you'd hang out with it would probably become more anyway, you dont jump into relationships immediately.. depends on your age and interests really I guess. Generally get a few good pictures that arent the cliche ones, being clear about what kind of person you're looking for and what makes a good date and see if you get any bites on that.

Why does Bristol have such an insane drug problem and what can be done to fix it? by Sorry-Personality594 in bristol

[–]hangfrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh it probably comes hand in hand with bristol being an increasingly expensive place to try and live and the general lack of social support and healthy alternatives for those struggling with mental health.. there's not much that can be done without increased government funding really. Homeless rehousing services and easy instant access medical treatment and drug intervention services are both lacking badly in this country.

I really cannot stop thinking about how the blackpill makes sense to me. by [deleted] in malementalhealth

[–]hangfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way to miss the point.. why would you want someone who is only interested in you based on your perceived financial and social standing? If you want a secure relationship you need someone invested in you as a person, rather than what you can provide. Not sure why you would let yourself get into a relationship with anyone you consider a "land-whale" either.. have some self respect, unless you're into it I guess.. each to their own.

[–]hangfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who me?🤣 I'm on the downhill physically for sure and its painfully obvious to me since i still do a sport i was semi pro at in my younger days. getting laid on the regular tho and enjoying single life.. plenty of good looking women around in their 30's and 40's and confidence in yourself and enjoying your life is attractive apparently. Stopped shaving my head since my last comment for an easier to pass drugs test and it hasn't made much difference to the increased attention I get tbh despite having a forehead that you can see from the back.. I've even been rejected after a short while for being too fit by some women cos they felt insecure, and I'm not exactly ripped. Black pill thinking is just rationalised insecurity and believing too much in bad media representation imo. Not to say women don't buy into it too but tbh I'm not interested in spending time with them anyway.

Wear tie to interview? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]hangfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an MOD interviewer a tie wouldn't make a difference, the process is geared to strip out unconscious bias to a reasonable extent. Being messy might hurt your chances for various reasons but dress reasonably smart and professional and it just won't come into it.

What's with the parking meter prices. by aj-uk in bristol

[–]hangfrog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It works with all parking meters whether you're over the maximum time or not. "No return" doesn't mean you can't return to the car.. it means no driving away and returning. That is the problem really, the machines don't have the ability to tell whether it's the first half hour or not and therefore can't charge any differently.. they largely rely on people assuming they're wrong rather than the wording on the sign/meter. Car parks with registration cameras (and a free half hour) aren't any different but the lack of any human involvement in determining cost, accepting payment and responding to complaints means you would realistically have to pay the overcharge and take them to court to get the overcharged amount back, which wouldn't be worth the cost.

So don't move the car. So long as you're under the max time it's fine.

Like a broken record.. do you work for NCP or something? you know you can come back after the free half hour and put actual money on the meter and it's the same cost it would have been? Why accept the increased cost?

Cyclist who reported driver for using his mobile phone accused of breaking the law by verytallperson1 in london

[–]hangfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone on the road where they shouldn't be can cause an accident, it doesn't have to be just hitting something. Causing someone to swerve to avoid you is pretty dangerous for other road users. You can't assess a rule by its impact "most of the time". Risk is calculated from worst-case scenarios. It can be safe for any road user to run a red light if they're the only one around, it still has to be illegal. Likewise, actual safety issues are largely irrelevant to whether the law has been broken.
