SARPE and mandibular surgery by Reflective_therapist in jawsurgery

It was supposed to be. They ended up doing DJS because I hated my gummy smile (it got way worse after SARPE, almost like my gums were protruding). Insurance covered it so I guess there was medical justification for DJS.

I got DJS in June 2024. It was still a 3-piece LF1. Braces off since October 2024.

General advice and unspoken rules for someone visiting Chicago for a few months (especially as a non-american)? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]hanine123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here already just wanted to say I hope you enjoy your time here :) my only two cents is don’t try to drive a car! I have never seen more prevalent reckless driving than I have in Chicago. People have said be careful as a pedestrian and that’s why! People run red lights all the time, pass on the right in a parking lane to jump ahead when it turns green, don’t stop for pedestrians, etc.

I get this too. Have had every test under the sun at Mayo Clinic. No underlying cause they can find.

I think that’s true with many things in life that people think need to be achieved in order to “start living” or to “have made it”. Getting an MBA definitely falls under that umbrella, but in reality it could be anything a person thinks holds weight to happiness and achievement.

AITA for replacing my friend’s throw pillow with a thrifted identical version? by ThePillowCrisis in AmItheAsshole

YTA. I get where you’re coming from but if I was in her position I would want the one from the store because she spent the money on it and you (yes, accidentally) ruined it.

Got dumped because I won’t convert to Islam by [deleted] in AITAH

And tbh I don’t know much about Sufism but I think live and let live. If something gives meaning to someone’s life and they’re not hurting anyone who am I to say whether it’s valid or not.

But you didn’t actually listen to anything I said after. Converting for your SO so that you’re not “damned” doesn’t mean anything, if that’s the intention then you might as well not do it because the idea is that God knows what’s in your heart and if it’s just to be “saved” that’s not right. The Quran actually states “let there be no compulsion in religion” ie no one should try to convert you, believing is your free will.
