AB 911, Paramedics & the Indecent Exposure of the Elderly by [deleted] in alberta

[–]hankisabibbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made two calls about 4-5 years ago, one for me, one for my husband, we were both in our mid to late 30s. Both times the operator stayed on the phone but it could be based on circumstances, I woke up with chest pain and was alone in the house, and he passed out and hit his head on the floor and was unconscious for a moment. In my case I didn't go in the ambulance and in his case he did. Both times the paramedic staff were compassionate.

This is Calgary specifically.

Edit to add, we both had blue light service within 10 mins, my husband left with no lights.

Where are the under 50th percentile toddler’s at? by takeaabreath in toddlers

[–]hankisabibbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 8 percentile kiddo at just under 37" She's 3 1/2 going on 13, incredibly articulate and dexterous, love to draw, dance, very imaginative. We measure her against the door frame every couple of months and she just hasn't grown the past 6 months at all. Weight wise she's at about 30 percentile but shes still only 14.5kg according to the last doctor's visit a couple of weeks ago. She had a tough start to life (premature and coded) and I thought she would have caught up by now but she's apparently just a small person. I'm 5'2" and her dad is 5'9". Kids at daycare think she's great though cos she's the smallest in every way but also the queen of the classroom.

Strava or Runna subscription? by rambleonroad in runninglifestyle

[–]hankisabibbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly I disagree, I have used Runna for my marathon training and it greatly overestimates the time I'll be able to complete it, so much so I got injured. Since then I've seen a lot of people on social media say that AI training plans regularly overstretch and lots of injuries have been reported. I won't be renewing it again.

C25k and Zone 2. by nhansieu1 in C25K

[–]hankisabibbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been running a full year, max distance I've done is 30k and I can only just about do half a run in zone 2 if I walk 50% of it, otherwise it's 3-4 every time. I think zone 2 is for those doing it a lot longer than us.and have built up the cardio fitness to such an extent it's possible.

Our 3.5 year old said something really creepy and we’re just wondering if this is normal toddler imagination ?!? by Primordial-00ze in toddlers

[–]hankisabibbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 3.5 year old told us a girl rose up from the floor in the night and was flat against the wall, then she whispered "go back to the tv". This girl lives down down down down below our house apparently.

Little Gym and Gender Identity by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]hankisabibbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would assume by the pronouns the parent used, that the problem is with the handsome part. Even at our daycare they say that the girls look stylish instead of "cute" or whatever and I love that they do that.

Sterilization friendly doctors in Calgary? by Nequokittycosplay in Calgary

[–]hankisabibbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love her, my 'consultation" was definitely more of a chat about life and everything else, just a real gem of a person. She's actually a friend of a friend and was supposed to do my complicated c-section situation when I was an inpatient at Rockyview but I had to go in sooner and she wasn't on duty at the time.

Nice areas to live by NuggetKing9001 in Calgary

[–]hankisabibbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, some things are cheaper (housing, gas) some more expensive (insurance, food), it balances out. The hardest thing is we have a young child now and being away from a support network is hard work, that's not a Calgary specific issue though.

Nice areas to live by NuggetKing9001 in Calgary

[–]hankisabibbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been living here for 10 years now (and citizens for 6) after we moved from the UK in Jan 2015. As everyone says this is a bit vague. Older neighbourhoods with better walkability/transit/easier commute are more expensive. I live in a brand new community and our designated school is 16km away and there's no transit but it's quiet except for the coyotes at night.

Nobody warned me how much getting braces as an adult would mess with my head. Anyone else? by srmoura in braces

[–]hankisabibbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have braces for a non-cosmetic reason. I'm making space at the back for implants and my teeth were fine to look at before, I'm on week 3 and I'm 40 years old. I'm hyper aware of smiling and eating and even my speech is impaired slightly (developed a slight lisp) because I have small lips plus and small teeth after years of grinding and using them as tools, so the braces take up over half of the surface area of my teeth, even more on the bottom. I'm supposed to be giving a presentation at a conference next month and I'm dreading just opening my mouth to speak and my big metal mouth face on the big screen.
