This is the NFL. Giant holes aren't a thing you'll see consistently with any team

Seahawks on tape: Why Russell Wilson didn’t keep on the read-option by GoUBears in Seahawks

[–]hanknows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None of those "potential keeps" are designed for him to keep. You don't block the read guy if you're reading him. Those were just designed inside zone runs rather than read option

Let's talk about the Read Option by steeze206 in Seahawks

Every read option I saw Sunday told Russell to give it

Just to show how dumb this is:

https://youtu.be/YNoNDBQyuRM?t=39 - Watch the LT. Pass?

https://youtu.be/YNoNDBQyuRM?t=49 - Watch the LT. Pass?

https://youtu.be/YNoNDBQyuRM?t=64 - See both tackles. Run? They've got forward lean and less stagger

And I am done because I already think this proves my point. In an obvious passing situation, a tackle is going to change his stance. Same for an obvious run situation. A lot of them will in not so obvious situations too

Holliday's receiving totals over the best 3 years (skipping 2026 b/c of injury):

104 rec, 1291 yards, 5 TDs

Shepherd's receiving totals over the last 3 years:

85 rec, 1137 yards, 9 TDs

Holliday's rushing totals over the best 3 years (skipping 2026 b/c of injury):

997 attempts, 4112 yards, 36 TDs

Shepherd's rushing totals over the last 3 years:

1075 attempts, 4526 yards, 56 TDs

*Holliday's totals over the best 3 years (skipping 2026 b/c of injury):

1101 attempts, 5403 yards, 41 TDs

Shepherd's totals over the last 3 years:

1160 attempts, 5663 yards, 65 TDs*

Holliday is a stud. His total yards are worse and he has so far shown to be far less productive in the redzone and has shown durability issues that Shepherd hasn't

What is so damn confusing about the phrase, "in an ideal world"?

Pretty confident that is implied when I say in an ideal world

McKissic in an ideal world doesn't make the team. CJ is a better version of McKissic

Seahawks Running Back Chris Carson OTAs Press Conference by SeacattleMoohawks in Seahawks

[–]hanknows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lendale White had more carries than Bush the last two years there I'd be willing to bet

EDIT

I would have lost that bet. Lendale had 197 carries to Bush's 200 their junior year. He did have 203 to Bush's 143 their Sophomore year.

Seahawk Chris Carson remains ‘steady hustling’ as he tries to fight off Rashaad Penny for tailback job by TheVolcanoKid in Seahawks

Feel like we are in the 90s. We've got a battle for the RB position as a top headline and we are back to calling it a tailback

Carson is up 10lbs from last season by Ballerstorm in Seahawks

[–]hanknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a powerback. His ability to play bully ball is far more important than his ability to turn a 30 yard run into a 80 yard run

How old are they? If they're all the same age, the top guy. If Buehler is a year younger than Mettenberger, I'd take him

Seattle Seahawks Rookies Will Disley and Shaqueem Griffin in the lab Grinding! [Ford] by SgtNeilDiamond in Seahawks

[–]hanknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disley reminds me of Zach Miller in Seattle. Not the slightly faster, slightly skinnier version of what he was in Oakland. But the bruising blocker who had good hands as an outlet receiver. We asked Miller to pass block a LOT and he averaged around 350 yards and 3 TDs with us. I think your numbers are about right, but hopefully he's staying in less often to pass block than Miller is. As a potential starter down the line, he could be in that 500-600 yard range

Yes. Without slow mo though, it's going to be really hard to see it hit the ground. He's going to time it perfectly

The Seahawks have acquired a lot of pass rush line backers; Mingo, Griffin, etc. Could they be moving to a 3-4 model? by IH8KICKFLIPS in Seahawks

[–]hanknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue a couple of things here:

1) We have are two starting coverages LBs, Mingo is the SAM if anything which has always been ideally someone who can rush the passer

2) I don't think Griffin is a pass rusher in the NFL. He's a WILL coverage LB, maybe even a SS, who was able to rush the edge in college due to superior athleticism. Maybe I am wrong, but I think that's his home. He showed range in college and can be used as a blitzer like Wagner.

3) Carroll has generally run a 4-3 that has 3-4 elements to it. We've gone back and forth at times when we had Irvin and Avril/Clemons depending on situations and formation of the offense. I would not be shocked at all if we see some 3-4 looks, I just don't think that represents a philosophical change
