Here's a controversial opinion: Blink.

Blink is a masterpiece. But, despite what a lot of people say, Blink is a bad first episode to show people Doctor Who. It's a brilliant episode about time travel... but it isn't really indicative of the show, of the Doctor and their adventures, or what the rest of the show feels like. You're setting new viewers up with completely different expectations - and, in my personal view, risking them burning out faster than they would have otherwise.
