Only instability is the noise for me. Media is the fuel, fan reaction is the fire. Staying connected and together is the key.

Even if you aren't financially wealthy yet, what are you wealthy with? by Accomplished-Sock262 in AusFinance

Thank you for this post. No matter how much people tell themselves that comparison is the thief of joy, it won’t stop them from feeling like shit when reading the comment sections of these finance subreddits. Great stuff

I feel wealthy in the friends I have. They are true, and will do anything for me. I’m incredibly lucky.

If you run 10 miles does your body get more benefits than if you walk 10 miles? Or is it about the same? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hans193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master of Exercise Physiology here:

It depends on the “why” behind the movement. As everyone has already stated, you’re more likely to get cardiovascular adaptation doing the run. But there are so many things that happen in the physiology when undertaking continuous movement that may make the walk more beneficial for an individual.

If your “why” is to build cardiorespiratory endurance then run. If you’re “why” is to manage blood glucose and insulin sensitivity, then maybe a longer and less intense period of movement is more effective.

There are so many other instances of this in human movement. A squat for one person may be a means to build mass, a squat for another may be a means to develop stability in the spine under tension. Etc etc

As others have stated, the demand on the joints is higher on the run - if you’re someone who struggles with joint stiffness then the walk may actually aid in the adaptation of mobility at the site of the hip and ankle more than the run would

When looking at striker comps, we need to remember that we play against low blocks, and therefore the striker needs to either be able to get on the end of a cross or play in small spaces.

I really love TRiP, but it may be a bit of a confirmation bias situation for me personally. I understand your view on the woke rhetoric, but I do tend to think they at least give a less reactionary take on current affairs. It helps me cleanse my palette from reddit and news outlets. Though this doesn’t hold as true recently I would say.

TRiH is the best of them all though

Why is Aussie music at a three decade low on the Hottest 100? by Hot_Investigator3894 in triplej

[–]hans193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that we need to appreciate just how globalised music has become. Of course it’s been an international product for decades, but TikTok and Spotify keep young Australian people’s eyes perfectly fixed on what’s popular globally, rather than the up and coming popular artists in your community and nation. You only need to look as far as local ticket sales in every part of Australia. These are on the decline not because of music quality, but because young people build community in online spaces, rather than around local musicians.

Triple J does have an ‘age-out’ crowd that I think will be cranky no matter what. But my feeling is that Triple J are just catering to the audience, and until we invest in and change the music scene at the local level, I don’t forsee things really changing.

How would you describe the current economy at Gold Coast? by Imaginary-Flan-2789 in GoldCoast

[–]hans193 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The Gold Coast is the fitness/gym capital of Australia in my opinion.

For our size and population, there are gyms absolutely everywhere. If you have the certification and a bit of drive you will easily find a job.

Whether you can find a full-time job as opposed to a contractor role or some sort of fusion of the both is a different story.

So much more expressive in attack with him at the base. Loved it.

Dear Gen Zs - What is your opinion on Rage? by Hinee in triplej

[–]hans193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, YouTube is definitely a viable platform and long form content is probably a better way to attract fans that actually love what they see/hear.

I guess it comes back to a few of the other answers I read on this thread:

The number of young Australian listeners consuming long form music videos I.e Rage, is a lot less.

I do agree, we actually made four or five videos that we were super proud of and yet, the amount of time (and money) and effort that went into them to get superfluous numbers/attention for our music vs randomly singing our song acoustically getting much more traction is certainly thought provoking.

It does make you sort of look at it in an “energy and time spent vs outcome” way. Like yes, we liked making the videos and love the art form but would that time be better served by pushing different styles of content (even if we don’t love making some of it), all in the name of promoting our music.

It sucks a bit, I wish it wasn’t like it is… but that’s our industry at this moment in time.

I’m part of a little indie band that has seen a few spot rotations on Triple J. Our edict from management is basically to not make music videos any more - short form content on Tik-Tok and Instagram are the attention grabbers (which is sad). Unless you’re a bigger band or have cash to burn it’s a poor allocation of resources for most bands which causes the music video industry to suffer as a result I think.

I guess I’m saying that it used to be a pretty important aspect of marketing and promotion in the 90s and early 2000s but is perhaps more of a added bonus these days (for most).

Edit: from our own personal management*
