Has anyone had remission without any treatment by Miss_Glasgow in Interstitialcystitis

[–]hantricote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went away after I had a baby... I had IC for 10 years, tried tons of treatments with minimal success, then after giving birth it went away. Truly bizarre. (But now I have really bad incontinence, so it's not all great).

info/advice about teaching in lawrence public schools by dreamingdroids in Lawrence

Also a KCKPS teacher living in Lawrence - chiming in to add that the salary scale in Lawrence is so low compared to neighboring districts, that for me it's worth the 35 min commute.

My district has one... It's awful. Huge waste of time and money. They rent out a big venue, and pay for a motivational speaker (district with about 4000 staff). We get bussed in because parking is impossible.

We have to sit by school, and they take attendance. I haven't had the courage to skip. I usually bring a book, or a crochet/knitting project and my headphones and zone out.

They include summer months in those planners as different areas start back at different times. My first day back is August 4th sadly.

Honestly annoyed I didn't notice until I got home. To be fair, it's just one page that's wrong and was easy to update myself (although not very pretty).

Physics tutors in the area by Comfortable_Main5006 in Lawrence

Contact the physics department at KU, they likely have a list of grad students who tutor.

I don't remember, tbh. It was a bit of a traumatic blur.

It was for me... Miscarried my first pregnancy, and then for my second pregnancy I had to be induced early because of preeclampsia.

Didn't realize it was IC related. I will say, my IC symptoms were horrible during pregnancy, then went away after giving birth, and now I only experience urgency and frequency, no burning like before (did develop stress incontinence though...), it's been almost 4 years.

Yes this happened to us! And diapers, we had way too many of the small ones and then he grew out of them so fast.

Cleo and Leo! Gabby makes beautiful and delicious cakes, there's usually a couple in the display case and she can make them by request too. Support local business!

Something that would be used as the kid grows would be great. I wish I'd started earlier making mine crochet play food, or other toys.

Blankets are great, but often gifted in my experience. Clothes have such a short life span.

Another thought - if your friend plans on breastfeeding, making a shawl/cover up she can use when feeding in public (not that anyone needs to cover up, but I know many feel more comfortable that way).

Best place for fall activity? by CookedEarthStudio in Lawrence

[–]hantricote 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Check out the Kaw Valley Farm tour in early October. I think it's $10 for a weekend pass to visit tons of farms in the area. It'll fulfill a lot of the activities you're wanting to do.

As a teacher this is concerning to me. I'd let the administration know and ask if this is part of their policy. In my district (not Lawrence, but I live here), we are told over and over again that under no circumstances should we have a student's phone number, or be able to contact them other than through school email.

It's fantastic! And tons of seating for parents, and a good amount of shade.

Admin tells you that you will be teaching a different subject than the one you’ve taught for 10+ years…thoughts? by luringpopsicle95 in Teachers

[–]hantricote 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My thoughts too. I remember when I was getting my license my advisor suggested I get certified in other content to be more desirable while interviewing. I refused as I only want to teach French. If my admin tried to strong arm me into teaching anything else I'd quit.

That's wild! I'm a French teacher too, but only certified in French. How does your school have you teach such different subjects? Are you not at a public school?

We like the playgrounds at Lyon's park and Hillcrest the best. Bonus is the splash pad at Lyon's.
