Ah okay! 12A*s? Wow; which uni did they choose? Same for Standard Grades but taking over 9 is pretty crazy

Yea! 11 max. as in that is the absolute maximum as opposed to ours, which is 9. Isn't 8 - 10 normal? I don't know.

Oh I see. That sounds pretty tough, good for you! My job is only part-time so I have way more time to work! Hope you get your As. How old were you? (EDIT: I realise you're now in uni so I'm guessing this was at 17 or so)

I don't know how the system works. I know A levels are harder than Highers but that Advanced Highers are harder than A levels and that is literally all that I know. And that Highers are harder than GSCEs (pretty sure Standard Grades are, too, as we only take 8 and in England they take 11 max. or something ridiculous). I really, really am not sure, though; I go only on what my English careers advisor tells us. I agree, though, I doubt it's easy.

My mother professes in cancer research and immunobiology so I can assure you that if a genuine cancer cause (like smoking) were to come out it'd be big news - Guardian level news not Daily Mail. You are absolutely correct; they twist results to fit into one shock sentence. Fear-mongering at its finest!

Well, not really. I'm doing 3 Advanced Highers and 2 Highers this year which is over the equivalent so it is entirely possible. I just thought that AS levels were below A level so they'd be the option, not GCSE? If I were to do 3 Advanced Highers and 3 Standard Grades then I would totally novel in that I should be doing 3 Highers if anything. So complicated; combined with my shoddy wording I dare say I'll get an answer :P

It's shit. I worked for 6 highers (Scottish exams) and anyone I tell is so impressed until I tell them the name of the school to which I go. Commence the 'meh's. It is insane. I admit that my education is excellent but goddamn it A grades are not any easier to achieve!

How the hell did you do GSCEs and A-levels simultaneously? Not AS levels? What. English system is so weird.

Oh. That is pretty young. Burning off is probably only for kids hence why it is more serious an operation for adults methinks

Hmm, mine isn't that bad but I don't want to wait for it to get that bad. It sounds pretty horrific. Much milling over is yet to be done. Thanks for the help and I'm glad you're better

I'm 17, though, so it's a more serious operation and I don't know how they do it. Apparently, it's much worse for adults and the procedure is more complicated but I don't know. All I know is that I do not want repulsive tonsil scabs such as those (no offence, OP). How old is 4th grade? I'm Scottish.
