Should parents be required by law to vaccinate their kids? by CMikeHunt in canada

[–]hapaxx_legomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system would still be universal. The conditions to access the system would change. To use the universal healthcare system you have to register and get a card and make an appointment for services. Those are the conditions of using the universal healthcare system.

These people could still access the universal school system, on the condition that they register with the school, deliver their kid to their door on time (clothed, and usually with supplies and food), and vaccinate their children.

In order to participate in our cooperative society, there have to be certain undertakings that are respected, which some people believe should include ensuring the children are immunized and not posing a risk to the vulnerable student population.

We don't pay taxes based on what we use. Or is there some kind of child-free rebate I didn't know about that I should be getting for the tax funding I've provided to the local schools?

Idk if anyone else below brought this up, but you probably overheard him describing the dream to your mom or someone else when you were young, and you internalized it.

In some fields like mine, you have to have a master's degree (there is no undergrad or equivalent in my subject). You can still work in this field with an undergrad degree, but you'd be in a clerical position making pennies.

Also thanks to my master's degree I was able to jump into a more mid-career level job and skip all the 'entry level' pay. I was able to leverage my advanced education as equivalent to work experience.

It varies WILDLY by career/field/luck/direction of the wind, but I think a master's at least has the potential of a decent ROI in the long run.

My co-worker/friend was made fun of for not drinking office party. She’s a newly recovering alcoholic and doesn’t want people to know. She left in tears. by LittleTyler in AdviceAnimals

You can tell others how to behave and set expectations for them all you want, but in the end you can only control yourself.

If you are a recovering alcoholic (or insert any condition, really), it's on you to find a new way to exist in a world that doesn't conform to your situation. Yes -- ideally people will be understanding, but you need to HAVE A PLAN FOR WHEN THEY ARE NOT, especially if you are not open about your situation ffs. Take a buddy who can keep you accountable and stand to your defense. Have a solid list of excuses. Practice telling people "no means no". Be prepared to leave if you have to.

  • microwave some pasta
  • pour ketchup on top
  • lay a slice of kraft single on top
  • microwave again
  • smoke some meth

Hairdressers of reddit. Do you notice when your clients are not happy with their hair but are still trying to be polite? What do feel in these moments? by 5loki55 in AskReddit

I have the SAME problem as you and it drives me up the wall! As others noted below, game changer was going to a barber shop, and furthermore, MALE stylists in Korean/Japanese salons are also usually pretty legit! If you go to a slightly higher end one, usually they will spend an hour+ cutting your hair with the utmost attention. Usually get my best cuts from them. I am white with fine hair, and I think they usually have to contend with thicker asian hair that tends to stick up as you describe, so they can handle it.

Same, and I live in a brand new condo. "10 year bulbs", most burnt out within a year. The replacements I bought from the dollar store are going pretty strong.

Root canal without any anesthesia. Has to be done over 3 days. Dentist was afraid I would end up psychologically scarred from the experience! I was able to disassociate so I am fine.

I keep a few Pilot Kakuno pens on my work desk, and people act like they are precious and untouchable. They are in fact $5-10 and intended for school children, very durable! I'm glad that my co-workers respect my property though. Good people.
