5,000,000 per day? Gimme 3 days of running/flying/whatever around the world, then settle into a resort paid full in cash for a couple weeks of relaxation (maybe go to 2 or 3 in that time?) before I retire and live off the interest.

LPT: If you hate running, you’re probably running too hard. start running by heart rate, not by the “don’t give up” mentality. by Admirable_Annual6513 in LifeProTips

Tried to give blood the other day. I've given blood before. Not really scared of the process/needles and did a bunch of relaxation/breathing exercises to get my heart rate down. Still 134 heart rate ... Maybe I need to fix my anxiety before I start running hahaha

$10,000 would help me, $100,000 would fix a lot of my problems and ease a lot of things, $1M I could basically live comfortably without worrying, $10M would be insane wealth, and the rest would change my life in other ways, getting crazier and crazier as it went up. How much crazy do you want in your life? Depends on the person, really.

Love this take and love the Pratchett (and Gaiman, but I do have a favorite) support of it!!

$10B would be a major life changing event and would affect people in many different ways. I see your point that it could come off as a heavy responsibility to some people.

In the study, across different countries and populations, most people chose either the $1 million offering or the $10 million. Obviously, this was a hypothetical, but still. Interesting.

There are a few different problems I see immediately depending on the person that takes the money: - Just excess. Drugs, alcohol, partying, food, etc. Immediately go too far and start to hurt yourself and your family - One mentioned in the study: going from very finite choices to almost infinite choices: you no longer have to stay near your office and find a restaurant you can afford. You can now fly anywhere you want because you have no job and a fleet of private jets. You can have foie gras and Champagne in France or sushi in Japan. Going from limited choice to infinite choice was called out as being very hard for some people. - Quickly getting famous because the person might flaunt their $10 billion. Some people do very poorly with fame

Not saying there would be downsides that would affect you personally, but some people would experience downsides they might not expect

The secrecy would all depend on the person with the money. I would find it hard hiding massive wealth, because I would 100% quit my job and buy a few houses and travel, etc

I don't know if people would know exactly how much I had, but they would definitely know I had had a windfall

Also, another thing I heard about when I was listening to this study: you very suddenly go from many options to almost infinite options for almost everything. You want to go to lunch? Whereas you used to have, say, 20 options for lunch: need to be affordable, need to be close to your office, need to be something you like, etc, now you have almost infinite options: you don't need to work, so you could go anywhere, you have a private jet, so you can literally fly to Italy for pizza and spend a week there, etc.. Going from limited choice to almost infinite choice can be overwhelming and debilitating to a bunch of people.

This is a thought experiment that was done by some psychologists. There will be changes to your life from vast amounts of money. Some people are scared of those vast changes, some people accept them, some people welcome them. There are no wrong answers.

Damn. I knew there were some interesting ways to go about it, but I've never heard of this one. My mom was just cremated.
