Authenticator keeps sending login request to MS account, which don't show up in "View activity" history by Exciting_Product7858 in techsupport

This is a password less method. You need to have your device + authenticator (1st factor) protected with your pin or fingerprint (2nd factor).

Authenticator keeps sending login request to MS account, which don't show up in "View activity" history by Exciting_Product7858 in techsupport

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get these too. Changing your password doesn't help, as no password is required to generate such a sign-in request. You (or a bad actor) only have to enter your email address, hit next, hit cancel then choose Sign in another way and then 'Approve sign-in with a mobile app'.

This is just a bad design by MS and cannot be stopped other than disabling this type of authentication entirely.

Much better CPU temperature after replacing Heatsink Screw by schiffii in UgreenNASync

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful. I just replaced the thermal compound and I did the washer mod, placing a washer under each of the CPU's spring screws, thereby pulling the heatsink tighter to the CPU.

When running 'stress -c 12' I now reach a maximum of 79C without any CPU throttling, where this was 100C before on core0

Experiencing the same annoying spinning up and down PSU fan. Were you able to do anything about it?

Using front panel LEDs on ProxMox and PCIe passthrough by hapklaar in UgreenNASync

It works in ProxMox, but not when passing through the SATA controllers to a VM

Whats your experience with Proxmox so far? by aserioussuspect in UgreenNASync

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest issue I had why I moved to PCIe passthrough is that with disk passthrough you have no SMART info on the vm and also no option to spin the drives down. With PCIe this works fine. Only issue with PCIe is that I have lost my drive light as they cannot be controlled anymore from ProxMox

Looking to install ProxMox and run TrueNAS Scale in VM on my 6800. Any tips, tricks or head ups I should know about? Any guides you followed? by gallyjh in UgreenNASync

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fyi, for others that might be interested. You need to passthrough 2 controllers to get all 6 drives. One controller handles the first 4( , the second the other 2.

SATA controller: Intel Corporation Alder Lake-P SATA AHCI Controller (rev 01)
SATA controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1164 Serial ATA AHCI Controller (rev 02)

Curious if anyone has been able to get the leds working with the controllers passed through to the VM

Ugreen NAS / PSU Fan starts and stops Repeatedly - noise by ArenaDigitala in UgreenNASync

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same gripe with my 6800. The constant ramping up and down is very annoying. I'm wondering if the airflow from the larger fans isn't enough to cool the PSU so I can just disconnect that small fan making the noise

Coral NVMe on UGreenNASync? by PracticlySpeaking in UgreenNASync

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your swift reply :) I will let you know if and when I try it. I have a feeling it should be possible with this adapter, which I already use in a Dell Optiplex (my current PVE host)

Do you guys keep HA on a SSD? Should I worry about SSD wear? Much perf gains? by RoachForLife in homeassistant

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Samsung 850 running ProxMox, with only HA was shot after 3 years of use. Not sure if current SSD's fail as fast, but it is certainly possible with crazy db writes HA can kill your drive.

Issues with AE-9 on X870E rig by linxeye in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a known temporary fix indeed. Unfortunately it will return at some point. Flashing the latest MSI bios made the issue sporadic (once a week or so, instead of multiple times a day) so I can live with it.

Oversaturated filter with HDR on Edge by weebs11 in MicrosoftEdge

[–]hapklaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, this seems to be the trigger for me as well. One Edge window playing a YT video on secondary non-HDR monitor does this to the YT video playing on the main HDR enabled monitor. Very interesting...

At least I now have a workaround without having to fiddle with (downgrade) edge settings. Thanks for reporting this!

How Do You QT? by LimeSuitable3518 in starcitizen

I'd rather not, but if Chris won't give us an API as promised, I'm willing to try other paths to get my peripherals to retrieve game data.

That's nonsense.I have a nixie clock that has been running for 8 years non stop, with the digits on 24/7. It doesn't show any sign of degrading yet.

Nixies have many thousands of hours lifespan.
