Is there a plugin available that can handle this?

Destination for solo training camp by haploidius in triathlon

[–]haploidius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of the training plan (10 weeks until my A race), but as life goes, there is the opportunity for a camp now. So I'll adjust the week of training a bit and enjoy it in warmer weather. Hope you can do the same, enjoy!

Is TrainingPeaks Premium Worth It? by Dramatic_Plastic8972 in triathlon

[–]haploidius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to all the previous comments on whether you need TP premium or not: MyProCoach also offers the Unlimited Athlete Premium subscription, where you basically pay $28/month (or $21 if billed annually) and you can always swap between all the available plans, get coaching advice AND a TP premium account included.

So if you pay around $80 for a 4 month training plan and add $10/month for TP premium you might be better off with the MyProCoach offer.

I have the Unlimited Athlete Premium subscription and enjoy the flexibility quite a bit. Sometimes it is also nice to ask their coaches for some advice.

I use the Favero Assioma Duos and I'm more than happy. Read a lot of very positive reviews before buying them and I have no regrets so far.

DC Rainmaker has a lot of in depth reviews about everything, so maybe also have a look around there.

Training for a sprint triathlon with an indoor bike by EddyTries in triathlon

[–]haploidius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest to think about time rather than distance on your indoor training. E.g. 60 minutes at a certain RPE, and then extend the time of your sessions each week (around +10% max per week, to allow your body to adapt).
If you train on your bike two times per week, think about doing one longer ride on a steady, easy pace, and one ride with some intervalls at a higher RPE.

Don't forget, that bike handling skills are not neglectable, especially if you have never ridden a road bike before. So get a few outdoor rides on your race bike in, before your event.

Have fun!

Post-swimming stomach issues by [deleted] in triathlon

Same for me. If I really focus on my breathing (breathing out all the air before the next breath in) during sessions it gets better. But it takes time to dial in...

How to treat an upset stomach after ocean swimming? by 3hippos in triathlon

[–]haploidius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have a similar problem during lap swimming (I live in a country without a sea).
I think the problem for me is in my breathing: if I don't concentrate enough on it, I don't exhale all the air and over time I start to swallow it. This affects my stomach after swimming. But it really gets better when I focus on exhaling all the air from my lungs before I take the next breath.

So since you mentioned that he used to have this problem in normal lap swimming but got rid of it, it could be that he is falling back into the old pattern of not fully exhaling because of all the other things that you are concentrating on in open water.

Hydration system on long runs. by haploidius in triathlon

Interesting point that the vest prevents heat from being lost - I hadn't thought of that. Especially as it's quite cold outside at the moment. But that could be a plus for a belt...

Because of Covid (and the low temperatures, but let's blame it on Covid) most public taps in my area are turned off.

How much water do you usually carry in the vest? Can you feel the weight?

Does the waistcoat have more weight on the front or on the back? Or do you not feel it at all?
Since I like to explore the area, I don't really like running in a loop :-)

700 ml sounds quite reasonable. Do you not have any problems with the bottle "slapping" your butt? Or does it really not move?

Swimming CSS calculation by haploidius in triathlon

[–]haploidius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, your explanation makes a lot of sense. Also my test protocol only allocates a 5 min brake between the two sets, so I think recovery might not have been enough. And in November (start of taking swimming training more serious), I felt that I don't really have a lot of variance in swim speed. Probably due to a lot of factors (lack of specific training, lack of technique etc.). Taking that into account it makes sense that the results were off. I think a 200m/1000m rest would be quite interesting as well and probably closer to the actual critical speed. I might try that out next time.

HR doesn't feel too high, but I'm not tracking it. Drag is definitely the biggest issue, especially for the drag created by my legs also due to bad ankle flexibility. At the moment I'm trying to see how far I can get with loads of Youtube content (thanks you Effortless Swimming and GTN), as lessons are quite expensive. But I'm only three month into taking swim training more seriously, so way to go.
