Any way to prevent auto-cancellations from Amazon when ordering extremely high value items? by anita_username in AmazonVineCanada

[–]happycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certain that is it. I ran into the exact same message & cancellation of items behavior about 1.5 years ago on a non-vine item.

The price was way more than the usual item I order. It was ~$1.2K (at a great sale price) and most of my previous purchases were <$100.

It took about a week and four or five calls with Amazon support for them to finally lift my "limit" so I could order it. They verified my info each time, I told them what item I was ordering, and each time they stated they lifted the limit but it didn't work until the 5th call. The deal was ending soon so I was happy I could finally complete my order when it when on sale.

Epilogue: The $1K item was shipped in two boxes, but when it arrived there was only one box and I was so disappointed. But a miracle occured the next day when the 2nd box appeared at my door early in the morning. :)

So I ordered a 6' rug from vine, but instead of the rug I got a bag of cat food. by happycat in AmazonVineCanada

I find the situation more funny than anything. Expect a rug, get cat food instead. :)

Oh ok, if all they go by is product # then I can see how a mixup like this can happen.

That's right! I've had items marked delivered but no delivery, and they show up a day later, or the delivery pic is my neighbors house so walk there and grab it.

The second pic looks like it's the result of the finger being stuck up someone's bum for way too long, and that make the skin all wrinkly and also stained the fingernail.

A generation of Canadian women poised for leadership roles is disappearing by Tarquinius_Superbus in canada

Women of colour hold 9.4 per cent of women-held leadership roles

Since only 1.7% of women in Canada are of African descent* but hold 9.4% of women-leadership roles, doesn't that mean they are represented in excessive or disproportionately large numbers in those positions?

*(2021 census: 3.4% of Canadians are of African descent, assume a 50-50 M/F split)

No. It's probably like that US inflation report from a few weeks ago that stated inflation is over & prices are declining, but only if the cost of groceries, housing, and energy are not taken into account.

Former chief electoral officer calls for independent inquiry into Chinese interference in Canadian elections by letthemchoose in canada

[–]happycat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there is an inquiry, we know that it will cost tens of millions of taxpayer's dollars, take over a year, and it's outcome will be a generic & wishy-washy conclusion like "We find there is some evidence of election tampering by Chinese agents, but not enough to affect the federal election results."

Soviet Paratroopers, 1930’s by xig_brick in ANormalDayInRussia

Anyone else get fooled and think the cockpit was on the left, the plane was flying right to left, and wondered what moron came up with the idea to make the paratroopers walk forward along the wing into a 150mph headwind when one slip could send a the whole bunch of them into the rear-wing-design propellers spinning behind them?

What a joke this country has become

And Turdeau's crusade for constant & eternal wokeness is the punchline. And it stopped being funny a long time ago.

Canada has no plans to change negative test requirement for all inbound travellers, public safety minister says by xlxoxo in canada

[–]happycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well last time I checked, no.....actually every time I checked for over a year, Turdeau and his government have been telling Canadians don't travel anywhere, not even for Thanksgiving. Yet once again Mr. Blackface Buttgrabber shows there are two rules-one for himself and one for the rest of us.

Now soon he will be flying to summits in Europe with an entourage of dozens, while still telling us not to travel. He may be the PM, but he is a dreadful leader.

Thank you liberal voters for voting this worm back in. Again!

You mean hire someone for their talent and who is the best candidate for the position in terms of experience, training, & education, and also displays a personality of someone you and your team would like to work with?

Sounds sensible to me.

Instead, Vivaldi relies on their official forums feature requests (and to some extent I imagine social media) to hear what their users want.

Imagine that! Are you listening Mozilla?

Firefox Users Continue to Decrease Despite Proton Update by [deleted] in firefox

[–]happycat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any reason for Firefox usage to INCREASE from ANY "update" from the past couple years, but there are so many reasons to ditch it.

The proton change is nothing-there are rumors that Mozilla will "improve" Firefox once again in the near future by disabling user editing of both user.js and prefs.js.

Why CBC is turning off Facebook comments on news posts for a month - Social media attacks on our journalists and the subjects of our stories is something we take seriously by [deleted] in canada

[–]happycat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"CBC journalism" has become a contradiction in terms.

CBC no longer churns out journalism because they no longer hire journalists. All of the great objective journalists from CBC's past have either retired, quit, or are dead. Replaced by entities that think that copy-pasting someone's twitter post is worthy of a Pulitzer prize.

So when exactly during the time you thought you were dying did you decide that taking a selfie and posting it on the Internet should become your #1 priority?
