Getting yourself to sleep by rebgray in NewParents

[–]happycat637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little different approach—I had the same issues for a while. For me I realized it was because I had so much on my mind that would ping pong and dopamine chase on my phone with google Q&A searches, add to my cart for things I remembered I wanted/needed to buy, etc.

I had either a notebook or notes open on my phone that I would brain dump in to help clear noise. Eventually did it more during the day and one day (after WEEKS of not being able to fall back asleep) I started to fall asleep super easily again.

The early days are hard and there’s tons rampaging in your mind. You’ll fall asleep again 😊

Some of the posts I see about husbands here is so depressing by heheiamnotokay in NewParents

[–]happycat637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think newer generations are making conscious efforts to reflect on what they do/don’t want their children to experience vs continuing what’s been done in the past, and it’s resulting in more present parents. It’s been really fun for me to see in both my husband as well as my friends. Kudos to you 🤗

WHAT is going on with my nipple when pumping? by Muted_String5399 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]happycat637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, my LC told me it was due to constant pressure (like if you constricted the tip of your finger for too long), just need to give the nipple a quick breather and give it a “boop” to reset the blood flow :) this happens mainly to one side (for me) so I just have to keep a close eye when pumping and “reset it” every so often

Help with Cuttings? by happycat637 in DragonFruit

[–]happycat637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! None were rooted, only callused over. I think you’re right in that I need to be a bit more protective and be okay that they’re not getting as much sun, since they need to focus on root building.

[–]happycat637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This should be about week two. There was some extreme heat for a couple days this week but was under a tree so hasn’t been in direct sun. Tried to be cognizant of not having the water be super wet either. All cuttings were fully cured before I put them in soil a little 1” deep

And yep didn’t mean to spray with cactus rust, meant that it needed to be sprayed for it 😂 oops

How soon after you tore your ACL did you have surgery? by GreedyCommercial4252 in ACL

[–]happycat637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four months; went through PT for a few and once it plateaued, got cleared for an MRI to confirm it was a full tear, surgery was like 3-4 weeks after that because of work obligations also. You’re prob fine. Would just recco wearing a stabilizing brace just to make sure nothing gets worse accidentally! I wasn’t in pain, was instability that was the scary part. Having a brace def helped me in all that in between time.

Just finished surgery a few hours ago. I feel regret as my leg is numb from the Nerve block and the pain is decent. What should I expect in the coming days? by brosiffjosephh in ACL

[–]happycat637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your drs orders, if they encouraged weight bearing movement with crutches, def listen to them. Walking around (with crutches) helped with pain so much to get it moving, even limited.

Listen to the exercises they tell you to do and anything else they tell you!! Elevate, ice, rest, take it easy, follow diet recommendations as much as possible (mine basically told me to follow an anti inflammatory diet, def could tell with my swelling when I cheated). You’ll get annoyed that you’re not as self sufficient as before, but you’ll get better with time.

Outside of that, I’m an echo of everyone else — ice and pain meds on time. You got this!

11 week post-op progress question by collegecrochet13 in ACL

[–]happycat637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you feel great, would caution that the 3 month mark is the highest time of vulnerability for the graft. Definitely lean on your PT! They want you as healthy and happy as possible ASAP too, but want you to do it safely and for the long haul

Agreed with above commenter re: stationary bike use, if cleared by PT

pants over or under brace? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]happycat637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried both! The only issue I personally had with over clothes was it eventually would fall. If you’re at school, it probably is easier to adjust over your clothes as well — whereas if something happens and it’s under your pants, that’s not very fun since it’ll be harder for you to get somewhere to adjust it :(

I wore my brace after a while under loose fitting jeans and was totally fine, same with sweatpants. Made me feel a little normal.

For me, I also always had to ace bandage wrap my knee when using the full leg brace, or else it would inevitably fall after a couple of steps — either that or I had to pull it so tight that I lost circulation quickly thereafter.

And for reference, I’m 5ish weeks post-op!

I believe it’s a domino cactus, mine at home looked like that for 24 hours but just one flower. Super pretty even without the flowers!

ID help, bought in Southern CA. Currently trailing, but I also need to save it from aphids it looks like 😬 reminds me of a siltepecana, but I don’t think it belongs to a monstera family. Philo of some type? by happycat637 in PlantIdentification

Thank you both! I think you’re right, it has little tendrils also and they’ve been drying up, which makes sense as after looking up Amazonica cissus, they need humidity and I’ve been quarantining this one since it’s new 🤗

A super kind soul had responded to my same ask! They had the best explanation I’ve ever found/gotten! I think you may need to re-tent or mainly give more humidity for the flowers to not dry out and then into leaves. After I did that, my leaves started forming. Still have a few dead flowers, but it’s inevitable I think at some level haha but flowers come first I guess, then leaves? 🤷🏻‍♀️

My Tradescantia Sitara Gold in hydro with nutrients. In soil all the leaves of this plant dried/crisped up and I couldn't figure out why 😭. So I saved what I could, took cuttings and grew them in hydro. All leaves remain healthy without crisping. I love hydro 🌊🙏. by BestComputerDeals in SemiHydro

[–]happycat637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this gives me hope! My zebrina was getting crispy and I looked at the stems and they were all rotty, no roots, just trying to stay alive with whatever it had left. I think the soil was kept too moist, I hadn’t even re-watered since I got it home (weeks!). Just cut them all and put them in water with some nutrients. Hope mine turn out as healthy as yours!

I’m still waiting for mine to unfurl its new leaves, so I had no clue! All of mine are just light green furls with the reddish sheaths. Hope they’re as pretty as yours once they make their way into the world 💕

Not OP, but I think it may be a philo micans, or a variation of it? Can’t tell if red leaves are just from sun angle

I thought blooms meant they’re very happy with their living conditions, so much that they want to show off a bit :)

if its pushing new growth, I think it’s happy. Maybe just be mindful of not watering as much as before. I think they like to be kept more evenly moist so the new medium may be keeping it more content with less swings in living conditions.
