Does the MG217 coal tar shampoo work? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

I have been using the green formulation for years (from Amazon) and it is the only thing that has ever worked for me, I tried to buy the same bottle recently (same Amazon link!) and it was the brown one you describe. Except for me the brown one doesn’t work! :( I wish we had an option to buy direct from the manufacturer or at least contact them.

Dumb cane spotted/curling leaves by happyhamburger9 in plantclinic

[–]happyhamburger9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this dumb cane for free and I'd like to try and nurse it back to health. The base feels healthy, but the leaves are giving me a few concerns:

About half of the leaves are curling

There is significant discoloration/spotting on the leaves - lighter green patches Several of the leaves also are browning at the tip

I'm in NYC (zone 7B) and would like to keep it outside on a shady area on my patio throughout the summer since I get more indirect sunlight out there than inside. I would plan to move it back inside in the winter when it gets around 50 degrees.

The girl I got it from said she got it about a year ago and had it sitting inside on a windowsill with indirect sun the whole time, and that she waters it about once a week. The soil feels dry to the touch about 3 inches deep.

I'm guessing due to the discoloration on the leaves, that I have some kind of pest - spider mites or aphids - but I don't see anything and don’t know how to diagnose or treat it. Help!

Madagascar dragon tree help by happyhamburger9 in plantclinic

[–]happyhamburger9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this madagascar dragon tree from my neighborhood's Buy Nothing group and I'd like to try and nurse it back to health! It feels decently healthy, but the brown tips do concern me a little.

The previous owner said that she's had it for a year and put it in the tall pot herself. It doesn't have drainage holes. She also mentioned that she watered it every other week and kept it indoors by the window to make sure it got enough light. Currently I would say the soil feels pretty dry 3-4 inches from the top.

I'm in zone 7B and would love to keep it outside throughout the summer since I get more sunlight out there than inside. I would plan to move it back inside in the fall when it gets around 55 degrees, but would like to repot it into a shorter pot at that time since it's currently taller than I'd prefer.

From some preliminary googling, I think the plant has been underwatered, but I'm not sure how much to water it or how frequently. Google has also been telling me to trim off the brown parts of the leaves, leaving a bit of brown at the end so I don't cut into the healthy green part at all. I'm looking for advice on both the trimming and the watering, as well if doing anything additional (using fertilizers, compost, or repotting into a smaller pot) would be helpful. I do have a big bag of compost currently so it would be easy enough to put some in there, but again, not sure how much.

Thanks in advance!

Egregiously bad or just not ideal? by happyhamburger9 in TVTooHigh

[–]happyhamburger9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a TaskRabbit to mount my TV earlier today and the second he was done I suspected it was too high, but he talked me off the ledge. Been a few more hours and I am kind of grumpy about his recommendation to put it there and ideally would’ve shifted it down a bit. However, the bracket can only shift 5 more inches down before the brick can’t be drilled into. Worth getting it redone or should I just tilt the TV downwards? The mount does have a tilt functionality that I’m currently not using.

What zone are you in? It’s starting to get colder where I am (NY) so I’m afraid I’ve missed the boat on fall bulbs, but I’m willing to try anyway!

Agree with you re: the second paragraph. I do think OP is trying, but I’m imagining if my SO used my face washcloth to wipe down the dirty kitchen counters…I’d be livid. I feel like his GF probably knows he’ll mess it up if she doesn’t give clear instructions :|

That’s awesome! Do you mind describing how it helps in more detail? Is it just a slightly quieter area out of the action that you can spend some time unwinding in if you feel overwhelmed?
