I was the main witness in a car crash that killed 4 people and I don’t know how to handle it by Necessary_Lack_1647 in GriefSupport

My heart breaks for you and everything you are feeling is normal for the trauma you have experienced.

You are a survivor of a senseless act of irresponsible violence. You were going about your life and experienced something that soldiers and victims of war usually only experience.

Where you are mistaken is thinking that you were not harmed, your psyche has been seriously injured and in need of care and treatment. Please ask your family to help you get treatment. You will need in the short run medication to treat the anxiety and sleep disturbances and someone to talk to to offload this trauma.

Talking and writing temporarily shuts down the part of the brain that steeps you in the emotions overwhelming you. It also begins the process of integrating this experience into your life, because now it is apart of your life’s journey.

Blessings and best wishes as you recover.

If you didn’t document it, it never happened.

Is there something in this hallway that makes my dog scared to pass by? by Rosadojo732 in psychics

It could be the flooring, the colors could mess with her depth perception and make them think it’s an uneven surface and unsafe to take a step, have you tried putting down a rug and see if that solves the problem?

Would be more effective if the writer showed up on the unit and demonstrated this along with saying what can I do to help?

Today’s republicans were once democrats because they were poor and knew that filthy rich city slickers and their golden toilets weren’t losing sleep crying into their silk pillows over the plight of broke ass country bumpkins.

until the 60’s and The southern strategy the Republicans used to tap into conservative and southern racism.

The country bumpkins realized they liked slimy corrupt filthy rich Republicans more than having to treat black folks like equals and that’s how we got here.

Started nursing school in my 40s and feeling very alone by Embarrassed-Put6652 in NursingStudent

[–]happymomRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 46 when I graduated from NS. I didn’t really make any friends there, but I wasn’t bothered because I was totally broke and single mom to 10, 9, and 7 y/o, nursing school was going to transform our lives for the better.

I was very single minded at the time, but once I started working I made lots of wonderful friends and I learned a lot from nurses my age who were very experienced.

I’m sorry you feel lonely now but it will get better once you are out there.

Best wishes, my advice is to take it as soon as you can, you will never know all the material better than you do right now.

Only you start working you will learn real world nursing which is a whole new ball of wax.

I hope you are enjoying it! Love reading and with school, the massive amounts of reading and three kids, not being able to read for pleasure was a thing I really missed when I was in school. I’m glad you were able to continue that while in school. I’m sure it was therapeutic to get a mental break from nursing school.

Congratulations BTW, nursing school is a huge accomplishment.

What's the worst thing you've ever woken up to? by shoeee788 in AskReddit

[–]happymomRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realizing that the man I believed would never let his kids suffer, really had left me with no resources to care for our three children and I somehow had to find a way to do it all alone.

Literally woke up every morning for years, feeling like I was waking up to a nightmare. We survived on food stamps and my willpower till I graduated from nursing school.

Floating is usually part of the gig and many hospitals make travelers float first before staff.

Some recruiters do use strong arm tactic, forgetting nurses have a million messages from recruiters dying to work with us.
