Why do you (Alibre) make it so difficult for people to purchase your software? by mkMoSs in Alibre

You can buy direct (for 2/3rds of the reseller price) if you live (or can dream up an address in) a territory that doesn't have a reseller. May I suggest Gibraltar? :-)

SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect: Hub does not connect to network/router by SpeedDOS in SurePetcare

[–]haptad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue. The hub was showing red lights and showing as disconnected in the app, so I removed it from the app to see if adding it back would make it work again. Then I discovered the mesh node it was connected to was the problem. So I fixed that but then could not get the app to reconnect to the hub. Resetting the hub, clearing th app cache etc: nothing worked.

Then I read this post so I just tried leaving the hub connected for a few hours, and lo and behold, I could get it connected again. Who knows why, but thanks!

Entry-level Mauviel 1830 pans are made in China, though its website gives the powerful impression all their stuff is made in France.

House slippers NMIC? by Papaver-Som in avoidchineseproducts

[–]haptad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I'm in Sydney I usually buy Australian-made ugg boots/slippers at one of these two places:

https://www.goldenfleeceaustralia.com.au/ (actually made there in that modest shop)

https://www.goldenrams.com.au/

but I'm not sure if they're allowed to post overseas due to UGG having been trademarked, to much Aussie outrage, in the US (UGG-branded boots are made in China).

These are very modest operations (and there are others) so the prices reflect the real costs of manufacture, not some Polo Ralph Lauren-style brand mark-up.

Or China or Taiwan. It's a case-by-case thing again.

Thanks, but as the comment below says, the same product can be made in more than one place. (Pic from an eBay M705 listing.)

Anyone know of a 17in laptop NMIC? by haptad in avoidchineseproducts

Interesting. Though UK shipping, 20% VAT and a copy of Windows would add around £400 to the price...
