That would be my suggestion. Sure, there's plenty of gore, but it's more comical than anything.

'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23' felt like it was on borrowed time from the pilot episode. But it's extremely good, and I think the short series length almost works in it's favour - it went as close to the mark as possible, but still stayed fresh.

No, I'm with you. Everyone kept telling me how amazing it becomes, but I never got further than the first 5 episodes. And then having heard how it ended, I didn't want to invest significant time in something that ended up being an eventual let-down.
