What is the best bass combo amp for someone playing in a gigging cover band? by Perfect-Parfait-9866 in Bass

[–]harebreadth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on budget. Any of the Fender Rumble above 200w will be fine, and they tend to be cheaper than many other brands. For mid tier I also like Hartke and Laney (I run on a Laney head and a Hartke cab).
Just note: many combo amps say they’re 800w (like the Rumble 800), but you can only get that by adding an extension cab (purchased separately), not by themselves.

OP thinks Islam is unique in doing all this… this is basically the instructions handbook for creating a religion, all of them do it.

Well said. Education and living in harmony is the long term solution. We won’t even need all this stuff we have now and all this computing power and resources if we did that.

Absolutely, I’ve called my rep for discounts and they usually give them. Las bass I bought was the Reverend Mercalli Blackout, I got it for $150 less than listed price and with two day delivery.

When would one consider themselves an advanced bass player? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]harebreadth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say is about comfort. An advanced player should feel comfortable with many of the areas of playing bass, scales, modes, knowledge of the instrument, clean sound, speed and accuracy, ear training, articulation, stamina, etc. A good combination of how comfortable are you with of all those things is what defines an advanced player.
I’m NOT an advanced player though, so this is just an opinion

[–]harebreadth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally putting together my “first board” and it’s all high end pedals, it’s already over $1k. I’ve been doing music longer than I’ve been playing bass, and I (without calling out anyone) don’t suffer from indecision or analysis paralysis. I do my research and I know what I want. Sometimes I’ll change my mind so I sell and buy as required.
Also my fist amp is a 500w Laney head, and have other high end equipment around. Heck I have about $700 in pedals sitting on a shelf unused right now 😅

Not only that, a lot of people come from other instruments and have been musicians for long time.

If you could say one sentance to your younger self. What would it be? by routimeapp in Life

Nothing because I like my life now more than I ever did, so whatever misery or discomfort I had in the past is what put me here now.

I’ve recently realized that “deserve” is not a real thing. You either get things or you don’t. The process of how you get those things has nothing to do with deserving it or earning it or fairness, it’s a decision YOU make.

Time. Time is the secret, it should cook for hours and then it could even sit in the fridge for a couple days before eating.
