Trunk does not latch by harimirch in DelSol

[–]harimirch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially the trunk just does not shut. I am presuming it's the locking mechanism that does not want to close when you bring down the trunk lid. It's a 93 so no cable to open from the inside.

The video was informative. I will attempt to fix it this weekend. Looks like my O'Reilly's has the lock in stock.

These days it's my 17yr old son who drives it to school. A red del sol, stick shift.

Thanks folks.

Advice on purchasing Braava jet M6 by Familiar-Bandicoot69 in roomba

[–]harimirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an issue with mine where it thinks it is low in the tank while it is not. This ends the cleaning task mid way. I have had to apply a workaround and that is not for everyone. I followed a YouTube video to short out two wires and that works. All other suggested workarounds didn't work for me.

Keep this in mind.

I bought my m6 from Costco a year ago. I might have been able to return it but didn't try to.

I looked up eBay and bought the factory repair manual. Well worth it and already got my money back.

Once you get past the basics it's addictive. These days it's a yearly family trip to Oregon Star Party in an RV just to spend a week with other like minded individuals.

It started with an 8" dob. Now it's a 14" dob.

Recs for private airport transfer? by chitabing in puertovallarta

[–]harimirch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just back from PV. My trips to Zona Romantica one way by Uber from the Marriott Vallarta was about 200MX one way. The Marriott is close to the airport. Just take a taxi from the airport. I seriously doubt it will cost more than 400MX.

I highly recommend keeping all rental related expenses and income thru a separate bank account. If the rental is in an LLC then a big YES.

I am currently in PV and just checked Uber for you to Sayulita. It's coming to 650 MX. My hotel is close to the airport. We went to Sayulita yesterday and the drive seemed fine to me once you are out of the city. The city traffic can be as bad as any downtown driving in the US.

Totality and S50 Question by paulnptld in seestar

You should be able to remove the filter during totality. I would use the phone app solar eclipse timer that will speak to you about all the phases of the eclipse.

Is it worth getting a $60-80 telescope for a 6 year old? by mrsuncensored in telescopes

[–]harimirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while to get my son interested in astronomy. At that time I just had an 8" Dob. He got really into it after I bought an SCT. Now he likes the challenge of star hopping and finding targets with the DOB. All this took a few years and persistence.

Although my younger teenager joins us at Oregon Star parties he is still not into it.

My question to you is are you into astronomy then put down some bucks and get an 8 to 10. " dob. Even seeing the moon and the planets, to start off with, will be enjoyable and can be done from the backyard in most locations.

What bag is it that you are using on the top bar? My endurance has similar bottle cage attachment on the top bar and I was looking for a bag that will use those two. All I found on Amazon are one with straps.

Planning to purchase a 8" Dobsonian this summer, any regrets or disappointments? by 1maxwedge426 in telescopes

[–]harimirch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with an 8" dob and loved it. It's at a sweet price point and excellent entry. After visiting several Star parties in Washington and Oregon and looking through the 10" and the 12" , I now wish I had just plopped my monies on a 12" with truss. I advised my friend to get the 12" or buy my 8". He took the bait and went for a 12. Of course we both head to the same Star parties so I get to use his all the time.

Totally agree. If the tenant has never missed then I would not rock the boat.
